The region is carpeted in thick pine forests in the upper valleys of the River Mur, and walkers arrive from across Europe to enjoy some of Austria’s finest walking, riding and climbing. As the name suggests, the South Styrian Wine Lands are a fertile wine producing region in the south of Styria. The vine town of Leibnitz lies at the centre of the South Styrian Wine Lands, and connoisseurs visit to appreciate the beautiful wine cellars and highly palatable wines produced in this largely overlooked corner of Austria.
