Winter season::
Ski Amade is our ski area, the largest ski area in Austria. We have easy access to the Altenmarkt ski school and slopes, just 500m from the house.
Altenmarkt also has one of the best Apres ski huts in the area, as well as a 4 km long night time toboggan run, through the forest down between 2 ski huts.
Cross country skiing and horse drawn sleigh rides are also popular, as well as other winter events such as the Historic Ice trophy rally, and the world cup ski event at Zauchensee and Schladming in January.The Salzburg Christmas market is spectacular and has mulled wine to die for, and from March onwards warmer weather approaches, what better way to relax, than getting a snow tan whilst drinking a hot chocolate on the mountain.
Summer season::
Summer has so much to offer, from mountain sports activities, and leisurely golf, to thermal spas and swimming in the lakes. Mozart's home town of Salzburg is close by, or you can just relax on our balcony and enjoy the views and mountain air.
Walking is very popular with well marked trails and routes, and a few ski lifts operate in summer as well to effortlessly glide you up the mountain.
It's a mountain biking paradise, with cross country and single track routes, bike parks and downhill.
We are also surrounded by fresh water lakes, lovely for swimming in clear fresh water and for topping up suntans and relaxing
Young Families::
We have 2 young children of our own, so are well supplied with toys and 'younger things to do'. Please contact us if you need any more information. We now have a large trampoline as well as our sand pit and climbing frame/swing/slide.In winter we have several sledges, which children (and adults!) love to use on the hill behind our house as well as making snow men
Ski:
We are situated in the heart of the Ski Amade system, which offers over 860km of skiing and boarding on just one ski pass and is a real ski paradise. We have easy access to the Altenmarkt ski school and slopes, just 500m from the house.
Altenmarkt also has one of the best Apres ski huts in the area, as well as a 4 km long night time tabboggan run, through the forest down to the ski hut. 10 minutes up the road from us it the world cup ski resort of Zauchensee, and only 20 minutes away is the high altitudes ski resort of Obertaurn, making us a very snow sure location and giving us a long season to the end of April.For the more adventurous, Zauchensee is a very popular resort to visit, with buses every 10 minutes dropping you off at the lift centre. The resort itself is in a huge bowl with skiing for all abiities and some great off piste over the back, but it also interlinks on to Flachauwinkl and over to Klienarl.
Golf:
We have 5, 18 hole courses with in 50 minutes of us, Radstadt and Schladming being the closest two, set in the beautiful surrounds of the Dachstein mountains.The different clubs are well organised and offer special discounts and deals using the Golf Alpine card. Mature, developed, interesting courses in stunning locations make for a quite unique experience. Courses are open from May - October
Available are individual or group lessons, club and buggy hire, driving range, guest tournaments and a golf pro shop.
