Ski: It's a clear, cold winter morning. The wooden houses are hiding under thick layers of snow, and icicles of several feet in length have grown down from the eaves gutters. Like a golden sail, the sun slowly covers the shady-bluish fields and turns the valley into a glistening crystal ball. Cable cars are dancing towards the sky, and the first ski tracks have been carved through the fresh powder snow slopes. Cross-country skiers rhythmically stride along well definded tracks. Whether it's leisurely turns, carving or snowboarding - there's the right slope for everyone in de Bregenzerwald. Ambitious runs in high alpine areas alternate with half pipes and mogul runs. With its 94 lifts and cable cars, 259 km of prepared slopes, 11 ski schools and lots of ski kindergardens, the Bregenzerwald stand up to the competition anytime. Austrian world class kiers made their first turns here as children.
