Ski & summer quiet apt, pool, sauna, walk to lifts, shops & nightlife

Summer activities: Flachau has excellent hiking in the mountains and valley trails, as well as more relaxing strolls in the village and around it. There is mountain biking, including a downhill mountain bike track served by a gondola at nearby Wagrain. The Enns cycle path is a long paved cycle route following the Enns river through fantastic alpine scenery. This passes within a few meters of the apartment. Bikes, including childrens bikes and tag alongs are available for rental. Two outdoor swimming lakes are close to Flachau with restaurants, bars, small beaches and water volleyball nets. Horse riding, climbing, white water rafting, indoor and outdoor tennis, mini-golf and golf. There are organised tourist excursions to places such as Salzburg. Summer glacier skiing is available at the Dachstein, Kaprun and Molltal glaciers. There are lots of good places to eat and drink in the valley and up on the surrounding alps.

Eating, drinking, shopping: The apartment is located within a few minutes walk of some of this area's best places to eat, drink and shop. A few highlights: The Hoagascht is a great local restaurant serving a very high standard of food in a converted cow-stall. The Musistadl is a bar, restaurant and live music venue in a huge converted barn with live music every evening. The Schusterhausel specialises in steaks and is housed in an old shoe makers chalet. The Kaiserstuben serves great pizza and austrian dishes and has a large children's play area downstairs. Various lively bars from the modern Fire & Ice to traditional Musistadl. In peak-season, especially during the ski-season the nightlife is lively. During the rest of the year it is more relaxed and relatively quiet. There is a Spar supermarket within a few minutes walk of the apartment, as well as various cafes, sports shops and tourist shops. The tourist office and a bakers shop are c. 100m from the apartment.

The apartment is a few minutes walk from the ski lifts. The slopes directly above Flachau are varied with a bias toward long wide blue pistes in the forest. There are also black, red and off piste slopes both in the trees and in a higher bowl above. The area is renowned for its snow reliability due to its location in the coldest region of the alps (northeastern alps). The area has an extensive modern snow making system. There are around 35 modern, fast lifts in this immediate area, most of which are 4-8 person covered chair lifts and gondolas. In all the ski amade pass gives access to 278 lifts and 860km of pistes, the largest single pass ski area in Austria. Numerous other resorts on this pass are within 15-30 minutes drive, making excellent day trips. Flachau was chosen over Kitzbuehel to host many of the the men's and women's alpine skiing events in Salzburg's bid to host the 2014 winter Olympics, illustrating the quality of slopes and reliability of the snow.

Golf is available approx 10 minutes drive away at Radtstadt.
