Cosy apartment, magnificent view

100m2 apartment situated in an excellent elevated location, with beautiful views all around and a world cup piste view straight ahead. Another piste can also be seen to the right. The chairlift serving the world cup piste is walking distance and there is also a free ski bus only 30 metres from the apartment which goes to several other ski resorts in the ski Amade area. The apartment is cosily furnished and has two log burning stoves, one in the lounge and the other in the large hallway. There are two dining areas, one in the terrace which gives wonderful views all around and the other in the dining area situated immediately beside one of the log burning stoves. Both of these dining areas seat at least 6 people. There is a big balcony accessed from the lounge and running across the front of the main bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped.

Flachau ski resort is one of the largest ski stations in Austria with 350km of piste and is part of the Alpine Skiing World Cup Circuit. Flachau boasts immaculate ski runs, top of the line lifts, modern snow making facilities ensuring immaculately maintained pistes, floodlit skiing and superb apres ski. There are some excellent restaurants. Flachau is also part of the Ski Amade region of Austria which is the largest ski area in Europe. The Ski Amade is a network of 28 ski areas and towns. There are 860km of downhill slopes and 278 modern ski lifts covered by one ski pass. The highest ski lift in the region is at the DachsteinGlacier at 2,700m. There are over 700 km of marked cross country nordic skiing tracks. Scenes from the classic film The Sound of Music were filmed in this area. Salzburg is a 45 minute drive and is well worth a visit because it is a World Heritage Site. It has a very good Christmas market. It is also the birthplace of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Flachau Apartment for Skiing

Stayed with my family (wife, daughter, grandaughter (7 yrs old) and a family friend) for a week in Feb 08. The apartment exceeded our expectations and was perfect for our holiday. It was roomy, well equipped and the views were truly spectacular - if anything the description by the owners understated just how good it was. The customer service both with the booking and while in Flachau was excellent. The ski lifts were within easy walking distance as was the upper end of the town. Prices were very reasonable in the restaurants and a Spar was handily nearby. Two of the party were not skiers but they found plenty to do - walking, sightseeing and a visit to Salzburg amply filled their time, with, of course, the odd 'kaffee und kuchen'.
First time I have skied the area and it was great. Pistes were long and wide. Overall I can thoroughly recommend both the apartment and area and aim to repeat the holiday next year.
