Holiday House in the beautiful and peaceful East Tirol Valley
HOME AWAY FROM HOME. Our spacious holiday house is located near the centre of town with a beautiful mountain and village view. If you are looking for a peaceful, next to nature and away from everything holiday the East Tirol valley is the perfect place. The house has a fully equipped kitchen all you have to do is the cooking and it is comfortably furnished. In winter, the ski resort is only a 10 min ride (free ski bus), cross country skiing is also possible and it is approximately 150 m from the house front door. In summer, Nordic walking and mountain hiking are the ideal summer sports. During the summer, take a day trip to the Italian border which is only 20 minutes away (winter 1 and half hours) and you can visit the beautiful northern Italian Towns (South Tirol) and also the Dolomiten Mountains. Brunneck is only 40 km. 2 wonderful crystal clear lakes are located at the border, one at the Austrian and one at the Italian side.

Facts and Data about St. Jakob in Defereggental: Altitude 1400-2520 m, Inhabitants 1000, 9 Ski lifts (Alpine Ski up to 50 km piste), Cross Country trails 20/km: St. Jakob in Def. is the most popular ski resort in the East Tirol region. There are 5 other ski resorts in the area. It is also one of the National Parks Regions in Austria. The guest structure is mainly from Western Europe, mainly from Germany, Holland and Italy. It is a holiday destination and it is reached by train and car. The nearest Airports are Innsbruck, Salzburg and Klagenfurt. Awaiting the visitors are winter pleasures and a peaceful relaxing summer. It is a beautiful and quiet village, summer activities are mainly Nordic walking and mountain hiking. St. Jakob is also located 20 minutes away from the Italian border Staller Sattel. The border is open only from late May to late October. During the winter, you can cross country skiing at 2000 meters!

Ideal Location for Nature Lovers
St. Jakob is a nature lovers paradise and it is ideal for your family vacation. There are two rivers and a waterfall within walking distance from the house. A fantastic children's playground, next to the river, is located 5 minutes away together with a picnic-grill area. Also the ski lift is available during the summer. You can use the lift and go up the mountain then you can walk down if you prefer. There are two restaurants on top of the mountain which are also open in July and August. Several restaurants are available in town where you can either get a Gourmet dinner or typical Austrian cuisine as well as a disco and pubs for nightlife entertainment. You can spend a day in Italy and have a picnic on the Italian side where a wonderful lake is located. Swimming is possible there too. You can bring your picnic basket or eat at the restaurant by the lake. A playground for the children is also available there. VENICE AND MILAN are approximately 5 hours drive from St. Jakob.
Winter Wonderland
During the winter, St. Jakob is one of the most popular ski areas in the region. The ski area has several ski lifts and 20 km of cross country skiing trails. Sledge riding and horse drawn sledge rides are also possible. 2 Ski and Snowboard Schools are located in Town. Also ski and other sports' equipment rental is available. Free Ski bus operates during the winter. (Restaurants, Disco and Pubs open only during the Summer and Winter Seasons). ADDITIONAL PHOTOS of St. Jakob and the house can be emailed upon request.
