Villa Samokov is an extremley comfortable and spacious property located in the heart of the busy market town of Samokov, approx. 10 minutes drive from Borovets, 45 minutes from Sofia and within walking distance of local shops, restaurants and bars, all considerably cheaper than those in resort. The British owners have refurbised the property to a very high standard and regularly use the house for family holidays. The Villa is fully insulated for extra warmth in the winter and has a modern central heating system and a wood fire in the living room. All modern amenities are in place such as dish washer and washing machine, TV, DVD and stereo. The Villa is a true home from home with lots of extras having been added by the owners such as books, games, music, dvd's and other items that make a stay more enjoyable. The owners are represented locally by Leda and her husband who provide a Bulgarian welcome and ensure that guests have a local contact for information and support

The Villa is located in the heart of the Rila Mountain range where winters are cold and snowy whilst summers are hot and sunny. The area offers excellent outdoor activities all year round. Samokov is located in the heart of the Rila Mountains, 70 km from the Bulgarian Capitol Sofia and the International Airport, 10km from the Borovets Ski Resort and within easy reach of the many local attractions such as the Rila Monastery, the 7 Lakes and Malyovitsa Ski Runs. Bansko Ski Resort is also within easy reach. The Villa offers the opportunity to enjoy the Borovets Resort whilst at the same time allowing our guests to get away and return to the quiet and relaxing villa after a hard days skiing. Alternatively the house is at the heart of the Bulgarian mountain ranges offering excellent summer activities such as fishing, shooting, horse riding, biking and hiking. The property has a number of balconies and a large garden to allow full enjoyment of the excellent Bulgarian summer weather.

Notes: The villa is ideally located for easy access from Sofia Airport which is only 60km drive and allows easy access to the other major attractions in the area such as Rila Monastry and Bansko ski resort which is well worth a visit. Our Bulgarian Representative is able to organise all activities including ski or snow board rental, tuition and summer hiking. Summer activities include golf horse riding, shooting, fishing, biking, hiking and site seeing. The Villa offers a quiet, comfortable and peaceful retreat from the busy resort of the Borovets whilst offering easy access day and night should you choose to ski or après ski. The property is centrally heated and comes with all mod cons such as dish washer, washing machine and TV and DVD player. The villa has books and games left by the owners plus a number of DVD films and music though the local DVD rental shop will rent films to you without membership. The Villa has a wood burning fire in the lounge for added comfort

Skiing: The Borovets has pistes for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers and has a qualified english speaking ski school. The resort is self contained in the heart of the forest making it easy to walk around without the need of buses or taxi's. The property owners are able to arrange for ski hire and lessons with the Rossignol supplier in the centre of the resort. Lift passess for 6 days are £90 for adults and £60 for children. The pistes are well maintained and bashed with international sign posts. The lift system includes a Gondola and is well organised. The resort has night skiing and operates 8 snow cannons to enusre adequate cover.

Apres Ski: The Borovets is a vibrant ski resort with all the bars and clubs that regular skiers would expect. The main advantage over the more traditional ski resorts is the low cost of dining and drinking out. All the attractions are open until the early hours and there are a number of live shows and bands. The location of the villa offers the opportunity to visit the Borovets resort or to stay in Samokov which offers a more relaxed atmosphere.

Summer Activities: The Rila Mountain offers many summer activities. Why not climb to 2500metres above sea level and join the summer soltice in the Seven Lakes region, perfect for serious hikers and day trippers. The Rila monastry is a wonderful site nestled in the mountains. The region also offers fishing, horseriding, mountain biking and sightseeing in Sofia.

Summer visit to Villa Samokov

We had a wonderful time here in June, the house was everything we expected and the locals were lovely. Out of the ski season this is not a touristy town but we loved the chance to see a slice of the true Bulgaria, a country of such contrasts. The weather was hot but the mountains still had snow on and the scenery was gorgeous. We recommend a visit to Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad and the walking and nature was superb. Favorite eatery in town was Sonata. One week didn't seem long enough! Thanks Denise for great management and to Leda who was a gem! I'll definitely be recommending this place to friends.

Well equipped, conveniently located for restaurants and bars. The house manager was very helpful. Lots of bathrooms - so no queuing. Beds were very comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Although we visited in the summer it was good to see a proper "wet" central heating system.

It's worth exploring Samokov for other restaurants apart from the Sonata and the Old House - but all do excellent food. However my favourite restaurant is in Mala Churcva a village a few kilometres from Samokov - also The Krusharskata House Hotel in Goverdartsi is very nice.
