The cheapest way to get to the apartment from SFO is a door to door Super Shuttle, it costs about $17 per person one way, if there are 3 or more people then a Taxi is cheaper, about $45. You do not really need a rental car, except if you wish to see the Napa Valley Wine Country, I would suggest that you rent a car the last 2 days of your holiday, there is a Hertz location a few blocks away, pick the car up at the local Hertz and drop it back to the Airport, that way you save on a shuttle to the airport. The apt has a full home office with a computer, printer/scanner/printer and high speed internet.
Bus Passes (Includes Cable Cars, Which has a $5 fare, so the passes are a great deal)
