On the west coast's Pacific Rim park (Bamfield andTofino area - 3 hours) it is perhaps one of the last bastions of human respect for nature. This rugged coast which offers abundant fishing and marine activities is also 'the' surfer's 'hang-out' for Canada during most of the year. Violent winter storms provide a contrasting haven for those who wish to hunker down and untie their becoming - a writer's paradise.
Good shopping is nearby at Nanaimo (25 min), which serves also as the main ferry terminal to the property.
There is fast (15 minutes) and spectacular sea-plane travel to Nanaimo harbour from Downtown Vancouver (near cruise ship piers) and from the South Terminal near (YVR) Vancouver International airport. You are then just 25 minutes from house by car. There are also flight connections between Vancouver International airport & Cassidy airport (south of Nanaimo - 45 minutes from house). If coming by car then reserve ferry space in summer ($17 fee), or travel in off-peak hours. (BC ferries - www.bcferries.com).

Ski:
Mt Washington is just over an hour from our property. Here you will find excellent ski conditions. It was voted one of top ski resorts in Canada and hosted training teams for the Vancouver Olympics. There are several hi-speed lifts and all the facilities for staying overnight at condos and enjoying the local entertainment.
