The French Beach Retreats is a 1800sq.f cabin situatated on some rocks overlooking Juan de Fuca Strait. It is within one hour drive from Victoria and within a 5 minutes walk to French Beach Provincial Park. The cabin has a 180 degree south-west view of the ocean, the Olypic Mountans, fabulous sunrises and sunsets, seal life and whales. Fluffy robes, flowers, candles and a complimentary bottle of wine will welcome you to your private retreat. The area of Sooke is famous for its good salmon fishing and its wonderful hiking trails along the shores and beaches. Sea-kayaking, guided tours, bicycling, fishing are all available through the small communtiy of Sooke, 21 km away. There are restaurants within a 10 minutes drive from the cabins.

French Beach Retreats are located one hour's drive from Victoria and about the same from Victoria's International Airport, on Vancouver Island. Our 1800sq.foot house is nestled between the crashing surf of the Juan de Fuca Strait and the profound stillness of the west coast rainforest, just minutes walk from the idyllic French Beach Provincial Park and 30 minutes drive from the famous West Coast Trail. Sooke is 21km away and provides all the facilities of a little town.

Fantastic open plan house

The retreat is a wonderful house. We rented it because it looked very good in the photos, but surprisingly it surpassed even what we expected. Its loaction is rather more away-from-it-all than we expected, very selcuded. It was a good 20 minute drive to get to any shops or anything else and this meant for quite a bit of driving. The driveway to the property is not for the faint hearted being very steep indeed. The house is really quite large with plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen is large and adequately equipped and the bathrooms are very nice. The Hot Tub was great. The outlook is truly sensational; we watched bald eagle and orca from the deck. The local beach is excellent and only a short walk away. The owners were incredibly helpful. It is probably the best house I have ever rented for holiday, and I've been to some really nice ones.

JUST LET THE MAGIC WORK

We stayed here for the week 25/9/08 - 02/10/08 and had the most relaxing time.
The property description is accurate and the property was easy to find (approach road to property is somewhat steep - but short) the owner is very approachable and helpful and the breakfast fixings and wine on arrival are a really nice touch.
Although the property maybe showing it's age a little the location more than makes up for this. The property is secluded and has wonderful views of the ocean and the Olympic mountains in the distance. Trails lead away from the property to small rocky beaches and a headland with a fire pit where we experienced the most amazing sunsets
French Beach is only 5 mins walk away and the small but good for swimming Flea Beach is just a few mins more.
We saw plenty of wildlife sea lions, otters, fish eagles, Bears ( on the road to Port Renfrew) and Racoons.
Sooke has everything you need and the Point No Point restaurant has EXCELLENT food at very reasonalbe prices.
If you are looking for a place to relax and be close to nature while enjoying a good standard of comfort look no further than this property.....we hope you find the peace and rejuvination there that we did.
