August 2011

Review Submitted: September 30, 2011 Date of Stay: August 2011
Our week in this property came at the end of our two and a half week, first ever, visit to BC. After a wonderful, though at times exhausting, whistle-stop tour around Vancouver and Victoria Island, Richard's home provided a relaxing and homely sanctuary. It was great to stay in a "real home" rather than a standard holiday-let as the amenities and facilities provided far exceeded our needs and expectations. Most importantly, the house was clean and beds were made up and ready for us. I had good contact with Richard prior to arrival and he telephoned us early on in our stay to ensure we were ok. The setting of the property was truly beautiful. My 11 year old son wasted no time in getting the canoe onto the lake as soon as we arrived and he had a paddle every day. My daughter and husband enjoyed swimming in the warm lake out to the diving platform whilst I sat and watched them from the comfort of the dock. The hot-tub was fun and great to sit and relax in after a hard day on the world-class down hill mountain bike course or kayaking in Whistler. Although I had initial concerns about the property being a 20 min drive from Whistler, these were soon dispelled as the house provided a perfect oasis from the hustle and bustle of Whistler. The estate is very quiet and family orientated. We would definitely return here if we are ever lucky enough to revisit this beautiful part of the world. To sum it all up, this is the first holiday where my 14 year old daughter has cried because she doesn't want to go home- what more can I say!

A fantastic holiday

Review Submitted: January 8, 2011 Date of Stay: December 2010
Arrived at the house after over 26 hrs of travelling from the UK. The house was clean, warm and the beds were all made. The house had ample space for seven of us, all adults ranging from 17-83yrs. The kitchen had everything you need for cooking. The sitting room with the fire going in the evening was lovely. All the bedrooms are of a good size and I particularly enjoyed being able to look up at the stars at night while lying in bed. There is a good view onto the lake where we could watch ice hockey.

The instructons provided by Richard got us to the house without any mistakes. We all had a great stay and holiday and would certainly consider going back. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Ski-ing
We were ski-ing in Whistler, which is about 20-25 mins by car. Finding your way around Whistler Village can be a little difficult but go past the turn off to the village and take the next turning on the right and into lot 4, parking is free and there is a free bus that will take you to the lifts and ski hire places. I would advise that you book skis, and passes via the internet before you go.

Whistler Creekside is also good to ski from and there is an underground car park on the left as soon as you turn into Creekside, it is also free. At Creekside by the lift on the left as you look up the hill is a place called Dusty's. Great for lunch and lively.

The ski-ing is great. The slopes are much longer than Europe, steeper and faster but in January it is cold and although our jackets and trousers kept us warm our toes and fingers did get cold. Also get a helmet, our heads stayed warm with these and if you hire skis helmets come free.

We also spent a good afternoon in Vancouver. Visited the beeches near the University, had lunch at Tony's Fish and Oyster Cafe on Granville Island and a real must see the Steam Clock!!!

What a great family vacation spot

Review Submitted: October 27, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
Our family gets together once a year and the Hunter's house in Whistler was excellent. Three bedrooms, no one complained about the beds. Kitchen had excellent quality and quantity of dishes, pots and pans, and glasses .We did bring an extra fry pan as there is just one and as we cooked for 9 it was handy. The deck was wonderful with table and chairs to sit and enjoy the view. Just a few steps to the lake with the dock right on the property. Fireplace made it cosy on one chilly evening. Lots of seating for everyone both in the living room and dining area. I highly reccomend this rental and we will be back for another visit. Not far from Whistler but quiet and serine just perfect for enjoying nature. The Stellar Blue jays were entertaining as well.

Perfect Mountain Home

Review Submitted: June 10, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We recently spent a week at the "Whistler Lakefront Log Home" and will certainly be back.

The home was an ideal size for my wife and I along with may parents visiting the west coast. The area is very quiet with amazing views of the mountains and a very warm lake for swimming, first week of June!

Really everything you could need as long as your prepared to get away and leave the evening news behind (no cable).

The new highway to Whistler makes the drive up from Vancouver very fast (1.5 hours) and being 15 minutes from Whistler makes it close enough to enjoy the village but ensures a quiet and peaceful sleep.

The beds are very comfortable, 4 queen beds in 4 bedrooms, with top quality mattresses. The hot tub is very new and kept in top condition.

For those visiting in winter the Olympic nordic centre is just up the road with world class cross country skiing and the new Olympic ski jumps. A little further is access to Whistler skiing at Creekside.

Plenty of hiking and mountain biking areas.

The Lakefront Log Home is an ideal 4 season retreat in a safe gated estate.

Beautiful and peaceful cabin location

Review Submitted: May 27, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My husband, two dogs, and I stayed here for a week. We absolutely loved that it was away from the hustle and bustle of Whistler Village. The gated community is very quiet and serene. The loudest noises around were the birds in the treetops, and the buzzing of the local hummingbird whizzing back and forth in the backyard.

We (and our dogs) especially loved the private dock leading out to the lake. The water was a bit cold for us humans to go swimming, but the dogs had no problems jumping in and paddling around. The mountain views from the lake were also spectacular, especially when we paddled the canoe out to the middle of the lake.

The cabin itself was plenty big for us and provided just about everything we needed. The hot tub on the back patio has a perfect view of the lake peeking through the trees, and is great for stargazing at night. The kitchen was well equipped, though we did bring our favorite chef's knife and ended up buying a cheap little nonstick skillet to make cooking a little easier.

I'd highly recommend this cabin to people looking for a relaxing retreat away from the crowds, speeding cars, parking lots, and expensive shopping. We will definitely be coming back to stay at this cabin.
