Quiet private apartment in central location - right on the front of the new town, so no hills to climb. No pool, but why listen to other people next to you on the concrete when you can lie and listen to the waves on a secluded sandy beach just 2 minutes away. Only a 15 minute taxi ride along the coast from the airport but because the planes come in from the sea you never hear them. An apartment so well located, and with year round sunshine, that we bought it so that we could always stay there - Supermarket across the road, Car Rental next door, loads of restaurants and bars and quiet enough to get a good night's sleep. British owned and managed from the UK. There is a local English speaking company who look after it and will give you any help that you need. If you have a late flight back, for example, spend the day on the beach and then shower and change at their premises.

Location: Puerto del Carmen in Canary Islands

Nearest Airport: Arrecife at 8 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 250.0 Metres
If you know Puerto Del Carmen, the garden entrance is at the bottom of the street across the road from the 'Casino'. If you want to find it on the full version of Google/maps (with satellite view), enter 'Calle de Pedro Barba 1, Puerto del Carmen, Tias, Spain'. The apartment is at the junction of Pedro Barba and the Avenida de las Playas. Once you get out of the quiet private garden there is a Supermarket across the road with a bus stop next to it, a Car Rental one side of the gate and a Tex-Mex the other side. Across the Avenida, behind the Golden Corner Cocktail bar is a secluded cove with a beach. The Old Town, with a harbour and loads of fish restaurants is a 20 minute walk along the front.

Notes: The apartment is accessed by a small flight of steps but the surrounding area is flat and easy to walk. There is a south east facing terrace looking over the communal garden with the sea in the background. For entertainment there is a CD Minidisc system and a Video playback unit with dozens of video tapes.

The apartment and immediate area: Everything is withing easy walking access from this apartment, along flat well-paved areas. There is a very friendly atmosphere within the apartment complex, as all the apartments are privately owned, several of them in permanent occupancy. The beaches are sandy and clean, with beautiful clear safe water for swimming. The local restaurants offer anything one could require, from simple snacks and delicious ice-creams to gourmet romantic meals overlooking the water. You could sample for months and not become bored!

The Island: It is well worth hiring a car for at least part of your holiday. The most amazing part of Lanzarote is away from the developed area and into the 'real' island, where there are landscapes of volcanoes and cliffs, little unspoilt inland and fishing villages where life goes on as it has done for centuries, and where you can sample the real local cuisine which, apart from the wonderful fresh fish, includes such specialities as cabrito (baby goat) and conejo (rabbit). You may have to ask for these as they are not always included on the tourist menus. Suckling pig is another traditional delicacy of the area Inland there are vineyards where the local wine can be sampled in dark 'caves'. Travel too to the north of the island, to the underland water-filled caves and the breath-taking scenery of the cliffs and view of La Graciosa, the nearby island. And, of course, Fire Mountain, the national park where you can see an active volcano used to barbecue chicken.

Thought I ought to be writing as you might think that we did not enjoy ourselves! We had a great time thanks and the apartment exceeded our expectations. We relaxed for a few day, hired a car for a few days and explored and the second week we sunbathed and did some snorkelling. So, many, many thanks. We had a great time. Just wanted to say my friend and I enjoyed our stay in Lanzarote 19th-26th February. The weather wasn't as
good as we had hoped, however we were very happy with your apartment which lived up to your description. We were close to everything while at the same time we had peace and quiet in your apartment just around the
corner from the hub and bustle of the crowds. Thank you and I will certainly recommend your place to
