We had a lovely stay at Casa Blanca

We had a lovely stay in Anne’s villa. It’s very comfortable, clean, and well equipped, we had everything we needed. It really is in easy walking distance of bars, restaurants, supermarket and Playa Dorado (lovely golden beach, which is not too busy in October and the sun loungers are 3 Euros a day). Playa Blanca is a pleasant walk along the coast path, or there is a taxi rank a few minutes from the villa (there are no steep slopes or steps in the area so walking is really doable). For night owls, there is a bar half way along the coast path between Playa Blanca and the Marina that has live music, and then turns into a late bar/club that stays open until 6am (you cant miss it, its below Burger King….crikey they get everywhere!)
The pool at the villa was lovely and warm, the pool chap came twice during our stay (he just turns up, smiles, says ‘Hola’ and gets on with it) The maid came mid stay, providing us with fresh bedding and plenty of clean towels.
Anne sent us an information pack before we left the UK, which included a map of the area with the villa marked on it, driving instructions from the airport, local information and recommendations for restaurants.
One bar that we liked was Café del Mar on the front of the marina (beautiful view, relaxing interior and the cocktails are memorable), and look out for Lani’s Bar which it is built out over the water of the marina and has glass panels in the floor where you can view the amazing fish in the floodlit water below.
We ate in, and enjoyed, about five restaurants in the marina, they all had delicious, good value fresh fish on the menu (as well as a full menu). L’Artista (an Italian Restaurant slightly set back from the front) in Playa Blanca was a joy, great food, lovely décor and terraces, and the waiting staff were friendly and entertaining.
We hired a car at the airport for our stay, (the driving is easy, little traffic, well maintained roads) and went to El Golfo to see the waves (very rough the day we went, spectacular), rode the camels (found on the Timanfaya road, the camels are happy, well treated and well cared for), went to the water park in Costa Teguise (have been to better, beware the wind and cold water, sunburn waiting to happen), had breakfast in Puerto Calero (beautiful scenery and friendly people, check out the whale skeleton at the entrance to the port)
We love Lanzarote and would definitely stay at Anne’s the next time we go.
