Golf del Sur holiday apartment

My friend & I recently had 10 wonderfully relaxing hot & sunny days (early Oct 2009) in this lovely apartment.It's just as described & as the pictures show, well designed with a bedroom off each side of the lounge making for more privacy - a bonus if not all party are from same family for instance and well equipped, although the kitchen cupboards could have done with a 'bit of a sort out'! ('managed to resist the temptation the sun was just too good to miss!) Another key would help if a larger party.We didn't experience any noise from neighbouring apartments.The complex itself is very well kept with small pretty areas of small trees, shrubs & flowers. It is built on a slope & apartments are on 3 levels, 2 with roads to one side.This apartment is on the middle level so is VERY quiet. The different levels mean quite a lot of steps & may be more difficult for those with restricted mobility but there are lifts to get to the different levels. When we visited there seemed very few people around.The pool area was very quiet, plenty of sunbeds (not much shade) & there was a pool bar (not open at the time - guess not enogh people renting)There were a number of friendly resident owners & everyone we met was English. I knew 'The Golf' from its very early days 16yrs ago & it has certainly grown substantially since then.Thankfully it has remained non-commercial - no nightclubs or noisy bars, but there are many restaurants & an area on one side of The Golf with shops & restaurants with music and some entertainment. We don't play golf so can't comment but nowhere is far from the course. Many of the other complexes/hotels have good restaurants and entertainment open to non-residents (although a little quiet in Oct) and we can highly recommend Santa Barbara, just over the road from Duquesa. There are also a variety of supermarkets around & larger hypermarkets a few minutes back towards the airport. Although on the main & busy flightpath the planes don't cause any problem. Duquesa is very secure & non-residents cannot access but one thing to note is that it is JUST apartments i.e. there is no reception/shop/kids club/communal areas (except pool area) - but there is a local contact in case of emergencies. So maybe not ideal for families with active kids.But that's it's attraction if you just want a base or simply a battery re-charge. For us it was JUST what the Doctor ordered and I've made an appointment with him next week to see if he'll give me a repeat prescription!
