Jamestown Park, in the heart of Historic Holetown, on the West coast of Barbados. Holetown is the place where the first visitors to Barbados landed, that was the Portuguese in 1627, who named the place 'los Babadoes' meaning land of the bearded fig trees. Our property is in a tranquil area, surrounded by the following hotels and restaurants: Hotels: Discovery bay, Sandpiper, Settlers Beach, Mango Bay . Restaurants:- Olives, The Mews, Star Fish, Tides, Cocomos, Blue rare, Angry Annies. From our property, you can also walk to the shopping mall where you will find a large supermarket, Internet cafe, and a large department store with duty free shopping (cave Shepherd). Also within a 4-min walk is a 24hr gas station, which also has a shop, attached. Four banks, the post office, police station and public library completes Holetown city centre. On the beach you will find many water sports operators and beach bars, such as Surfside bar. Tropical tranquillity yet close to all the action.

(cant do this in a cluster of villas, apartments or at a hotel !). This privacy feature plus the fact that everything that matters is a short safe walk away are important advantages.

The bathrooms have both tub and shower, ample towel racks, a large mirror with strip lighting. The villa has a hot water system which works from solar panels and has an electrical back up. The half bathroom is downstairs and facilitates easy access for your guests or when you are using the pool and don't want to go upstairs.

Notes: From the dining room , the living room and the kitchen you can see the pool. You walk out of the living room on to the semicircular entertainment patio which has tropical plants on both sides and then on to the pool deck. The entertainment patio is perfect for alfresco dining. The setting on the entertainment patio is unique. You have lush gardens on both sides with humming bird feeders. So when you are not directly in the sun on the pool deck , you can come on to the patio in the shade to read or even sit at the outside table with a beer, rum punch or whatever your heart fancies. This villa unit is East facing and gets more sun in the morning. All of our villas were designed by an architectural firm, who designed each one for total privacy i.e. individual separate entrances, separate parking, own pool and garden or spa. Guest Comments: Hi Carlton Just wanted to say that we really enjoyed our stay in Vida Mejor. One of the best holidays we've ever had. The villa is fantastic, well equipped and with lots of space inside. As you know we loved the pool and gardens (and the fact that you work so hard to keep them tidy and clean) and couldn't believe we were lucky enough to see some monkeys. We were pleased to find that everything really is within walking distance of the villa but enjoyed our days out in your car, although some of those back roads are not for the faint of heart. I'm sure you will have no problem renting out your new villas. Thanks for showing us round them they both looked fantastic, but I think Vida Mejor will always hold a special place in our hearts. We have told all our friends about what a great place you have and the friendly welcome and service you provide, so hopefully you'll see some more new faces from Scotland. Guests Comments: Carlton We cannot believe that it almost 4 days since we got back to the UK. I can still see myself walking round to the pool for my early morning dip! But hey, I suppose all good things must come to an end, and in leaving it has made us as determined as ever to get back over to Barbados again as soon as possible. On behalf of all of us, I want to thank you for everything laid on for us, from the taxi at the airport, to the car hire, and obviously the fabulous villa. Although the pictures on the web site were very good, we were all blown away by the luxury and spaciousness of the villa, the wonderful gardens and the relaxing pool. Even if we had tried we could not have picked a better place to stay for our holiday, access to the beach, and location in relation to the rest of the island. Everything was perfect. We loved staying at this villa. It was clean, modern and everything it was advertised as. The pool was a wonderful break from the hot days. We had small children and I would recommend this to any family that would rather spend their hard earned money on a 'home' rather than a hotel room. We were within walking distance to a grocery store, restaurants and the beach!!!
Carlton was a gracious host and Faye was a wonderful and friendly maid.
I would definetly go back to Holetown and I would most definetly stay here again!

Our family of 4, which included two teenage boys, stayed in Vida Mejor for an April holiday. We chose Vida Mejor based on internet searches for rental villas and the rave reviews of previous visitors. The reviews were accurate. The house is lovely, roomy and well appointed with modern furnishings and electronics such as flat screen TV and computer with HS internet access( very important to some members of our group). The landscaping was wonderful, lots of tropical plants and flowers which the gardener in the family enjoyed immensely. We took advantage of the option to rent a car with the villa, which was a deal compared to renting a car separately. We used the villa as our base for exploring the island. Carlton greets you when you arrive and helps you become familiar with the villa and all its amenities, and answers any questions you may have about anything. The villa is located in a quiet residential neighborhood a short walking distance from the main road, where there are numerous shops, restaurants and of course, the beach. We cooked in several nights. I bought interesting and unfamiliar fruits and vegetables at the nearby grocery store and prepared them using recipes I found on the internet. The family had a great time sampling them.

We have been to over 17 different Caribbean islands in our travels and Barbados is by far one of the best for pleasant people, very good infrastructure (roads, electricity and public transportation) as well as things to do and see. We went sailing, swam with gigantic sea turtles, toured caves, swam at calm picturesque beaches on the west side of the island, and body surfed in the waves of the equally picturesque beaches on the east side, ate a lot of fresh fish, watched monkeys jumping through the trees, drank a lot of locally brewed adult beverages, and relaxed around our private pool. We hated to leave, and Barbados is on our short list of islands for a return visit. We heartily recommend the island and Vida Mejor to others.

A great problem free holiday at Villa#2 Vida Mejor

Hi Carlton,

We are still raving about our holiday in B'dos and of course your Villa, its location, the local facilities and activities that came exactly as advertised.

Villa 2 (Vida Mejor) provided all the facilities and amenities our party of four could ever ask for; and the private pool just topped it off.

On days when the wives wanted to avoid the hustle and bustle of the Bridgetown shopping, they welcomely frequented the nearby located boutiques and the Cave Shepherd department store.

The post office, medical centre, super markets and some fantastic restaurants were all in easy reach; and for a quick dip in the ocean, public access to the beach was all within 4 minutes walk.

Though you could not at the time provide us with your own private transportation, you arranged for us to rent a car at a very affordable rate. It was very convenient having the car delivered at the villa; having the driving permit and car insurance all transacted at our dining room table. What service!!

Troy the pool attendant, an ardent soccer fan of the English soccer league, was very friendly and efficient in his duties. I tried converting him to National Hockey League but to no avail; maybe next time. Mary the housekeeping was just as friendly and always punctual.

My wife and I, the Mayor and his wife, really had a wonderful time. We all thank you very much and look forward to staying at your Villa 2 for our next holiday.

Photographs are accurate. Villa was great. Very clean. Furnishings and fittings such as computer, stereo, ipod dock etc all great. Also a car to hire on the property if needed, which is also a nice touch. Pool is superb for a morning and afternoon swim. We had a little brithday pool party and BBQ one afternoon/ evening and it was excellent.
The only thing I would mention is that it is about a 5 minute walk to the beach, though you can't get any closer than that unless you stay in a hotel on the beach.
The town and restuarants are also only a 5 minute well lit walk away in what felt like a very safe area.
So in terms of rental villas, I'm not sure there is much to beat it.
