Why Camelot?:
We love this little villa and try to spend as much time as we can here. We have fitted it out to the spec that we expect when we go on holiday. Good decor, fluffy towels, nice sheets, CD players, a good selection of current paperbacks and a big hammock to read them it! There playing cards and board games - should you ever get a rainy day. You can do as much or as little as you like from here. The beach at the Royal Pavilion Hotel is a two minute walk away. There is also the gorgeous Mullins bay just a short bus ride away. Here you can hire sun loungers and umbrellas, have lunch at the beach restaurant and even use the spa (booking required). All water sports are also available here - the paragliding is great fun! This is a really happy place to while away the day. All beaches on the island are public and it is worth taking a trip round to the Atlantic side to see the rugged coast, breaking waves and deserted beaches.
Activities and Getting About:
Most sporting activities can be arranged locally - including golf, tennis, hiking and kayaking etc. There is also a gym where you pay as you go at the nearby West Coast Mall. There are also a number of interesting excursion options on offer, both on land and at sea - again these can be arranged locally and all information is in the detailed villa information handbook. Local internet access is cheap and easy to install should you wish. Car hire is available, but the site is well served by buses so you may not want to have a car for all or indeed any of the time. Taxis are also always available either by phoning for one or from the Royal Pavillion Hotel. Food shopping/chemist/video rental/Pizza takeaways etc are available at Holetown (10 minutes away - busy and more commercialised) and Speightstown (15 mins away - delightful town, with all the shops you need and less busy).
There are is also a large new supermarket complex at Warrens for a big shop at the start of your holiday.
Restaurants and Eating Out:
There are so many restaurants and bars on the west coast that it is hard to know where to begin. The Lone Star is very close and also very popular! As with most of the west coast restaurants it is always advisable to book. (All phone numbers are in the villa guest book.) It is possible to dine for as much or as little as you like with the Cliff, Daphnes and the Lone Star being at one end of the scale and Surfside at the other. All these eateries are within a 10 minute drive/bus ride of the property. There is always pizza or roti takeaway from Groots Bar if you fancy staying in with a video and a few beers. Worth a special mention is Flint's pattisserie, where they do the most fantastic cakes and sandwiches. Sneaking up there for morning coffee or afternoon tea and cakes has to be done and they will also make up picnics for you.
