Yellow Bird is a lovely, spacious one bedroom house, overlooking the Caribbean Sea at Oualie Bay, Nevis. The house is slightly elevated, being built into the steep lower slopes of Round Hill. Nestled into a half acre private, mature garden with a private pool, sundecks and balcony, there are magnificent views across the 'Narrows' towards the south east peninsular of St Kitts. Oualie Bay Beach is directly opposite Yellow Bird and access is a mere 4 minute stroll from the garden gate. Oualie Beach is quiet and sheltered with superb swimming. Many of the island's beach activities are located at Oualie including PADI diving, snorkelling, windsurfing and sunfish sailing. The Oualie Bay Beach Hotel has a very good restaurant and small bar, popular on Saturday evenings when it hosts to a traditional Nevisian String Band. Yellow Bird is fun and cosy, very spacious, light and bright. Perfect for couples and honeymooners, with plenty of privacy and seclusion without being too isolated.

Oualie Bay is located on the north eastern coast of Nevis. It has a very sheltered crescent shaped beach, tucked between Hurricane Hill to the east and Tamarind Point to the west. It is a pretty, scenic, hilly area with just one small beach hotel, bar and restaurant. The other properties are private villas, hugging the coast and built into the lush hillside. Oualie Beach, Nevis is directly opposite Turtle Beach, St Kitts and a small jetty at Oualie is anchor to the small charter boats and water taxis that make the crossing between the two islands. There are lots of activities to seek out near the beach but it remains a quiet, unspoilt sunspot. To the east of Oualie Bay is Lovers Beach, which at about a half an hours walk away is an almost deserted, undeveloped stretch of much wilder, Atlantic shoreline. Cades Bay and Pinneys to the south are also beautiful Caribbean side beaches, with a few bars and the largest hotel on the island, The Four Seasons.

The window is unglazed with netted latticed woodwork. A ceiling fan and roof turbine help keep the room cool at night. In addition to the master bedroom, a pretty antique Dutch Bed can be erected in an alcove to the side of the living area to accommodate and child or 3rd guest.

Notes: The house is managed locally. All guests are met at either Newcastle Airport, Oualie Beach (if arriving by water taxi from St Kitts) or at the quayside in Charlestown if arriving by Government ferry (from St Kitts). We provide a few complimentary groceries for your arrival. Housekeeping, gardening and pool cleaning is carried out twice weekly, but not on the same days. Our manager will arrange extra shopping, babysitting and cooking by private arrangement if required.

Perfect! Will stay at Yellow Bird again!

We are thrilled with our experience at Yellow Bird. It is ideally located, beautifully maintained and has stunning views! It's better than the pictures posted. Everything about Yellow Bird was just lovely. The yard has beautiful tropical plants/flowering plants that attract a variety of birds including humming birds. There were a few mornings that we saw monkeys in the yard. A fun experience!

The home is spacious and airy, with a large bathroom, beautiful large shower and ample closet space. The owner had some staple items (eggs, bread, milk, juice, sugar) in the refridgerator and it's easy to get to the market and pick up additional items. Since the house is set away from the road, we felt very safe and didn't hear street noise. The house has it's own pool (very clean) and decks with a variety of views. We spent a day at the house by the pool relaxing...it's that relaxing and welcoming of a place.

Oualie Bay/Beach are just a short walk across the street as is the cafe/bar at the Oulaie Beach Hotel. Other dinner options are within a walk or quick cab ride.

We loved being there and will certainly plan on renting Yellow Bird again on our next trip to Nevis.

They will be passed on to Tracy, our guest manager, as she plays such an important role in taking care of the guests whilst at the house, and indeed the house and gardens themselves.

I suspect that this guest found the property to be very much as others find it, that is, so comfortable and homely that it is sometimes an big effort to go off and do something else!

Actually, this guest is also not alone in thinking that our photos do not do the property justice! That is a very familiar comment. The building itself is really hard to photograph as the front faces north and is elevated, being built into the hillside. From the front you have to point the camera up to see the house and the sun is always above the house during daylight hours! Then from the garden, the house is hard to see because of the dense planting, maybe we need some of those aerial photos!

As a personal response to the guest, Alice, you are most welcome to return at any time and I hope it will not be too long!
