Komarna is a fishing village on the coastal road between Dubrovnik and Split. It is 70 km north of Dubrovnik and 120 km from Split. It lies just north of the town of KLEK. (See little blue and white house on adjacent map for approximate location). The village waterfront faces south west and benefits from sun from 9am though to sunset. It is a rural location. Opuzen or Neum, both 15 minutes drive are the nearest towns north and south with banks and large supermarkets. Restaurants are along the coast road both in Klek and Neum and towards Opezen. The apartment is ideally located for day trips to islands by ferry, historic sites and towns, the wine region, the shellfish area or for just lying by the water's edge or on local beaches. In our block is a cafe, indoor pool opening out onto the water, sauna and gym. There is a restaurant and bar in the adjacent Villa Bili and a small shop at the rear. Until visited, it won't be appreciated why Croatia is the new jewel of the Mediterranean

The apartment is available most of the year. Reduced rental fees are available for out of season letting, i.e. November through to April. The weather is mild in the winter season months, day temperatures being 5-12c. Night temperatures drop to 3-5c. Short sleeved shirts are worn up to mid November and are again worn by March/April. The apartment, being by the sea, has the benefits of constant breezes in the summer afternoons, thus keeping things cool. As such, the area never gets too humid or very hot, typical August temperatures reaching 25-28c, although it can go into the early 30's Centigrade. Likewise in winter, being by the sea, severe temperatures are not known unlike inland locations who suffer with freezing conditions. The pool facility is not available out of season due to maintenance and costs. The season is from mid June through to mid September. Guests who do not wish to drive, collection from the airports is available. May and September are warm but less crowded.

It is ideal for business people who can relax and work on long projects in peace, in the sunshine and is only an hours drive from Dubrovnik. Get away from it all with solitude, peace and scenery feeding the imagination. A superb seafood meal is only 20 minutes drive away in Ston. Sleeping 6 to 8, why not take the team away for a working break to create open, close team relations or develop leadership skills or simply work on the next big contract. For internet access, the wireless 3G Broadband network is available and is supported in Croatia. Signal reception is excellent at Komarna.
May and September are warm months but less crowded and the water in September at its warmest. These are idyllic times to visit Komarna and Croatia due to less holiday traffic, parking and outside school holiday times.

Day trips from Komarna
Komarna is ideally located to make day trips to places of interest, beauty, and historic value. 1) The Bacina Lakes at Ploce (20km) boast beautiful clear waters and many species of fish. 2) The Kravica Waterfalls are about 20km from Metkovic and are a spectacular sight and well worth a visit. 3) The town of Mostar in Bosnia boasts an abundance of history with a Moorish theme to it having been occupied by the Turks centuries ago. It also has a public market on Saturdays. 4) A visit to Medjugorje, (30km) a Catholic Pilgrimage seeing millions visiting the village after the Holy Virgin appeared to 6 children on several occasions in 1981. 5) A ferry ride to the islands of Korcula, Hvar or Brac. Korcula is the birth place of Marco Polo and an attractive fortified walled town. There are street performances by dancers and actors in the summer. 6) Canoe Safari & Photographic Safari trips are within easy distance and great fun for kids and adults.
Day Trips continued
6) A visit to this part of Croatia would not be fulfilled without a visit to Dubrovnik, a UNESCO Heritage Site. The old town is steeped in history and wonderful architecture. Walk around the battlements and museums before treating yourself to a meal at one of the many restaurants. In the summer months, open air concerts are performed in the evenings in the square at the end of the main street. Other street performers are evident during the day also. All the shops are open until late evening, so make your trip a full day and evening. It is well worth it. 7) A visit to the Peljesac Peninsular by car makes an interesting day out. This is the land opposite the apartment across the water. Where it joins the mainland is the ancient town of Ston with its battlements. It is famous for its oysters and shellfish and there are some excellent restaurants there. The Peninsular is the wine making area for the region and you will pass several wineries whilst driving north. Stop for a small taster.
Having treated yourself to some of the day trips above, its time to chill out by the waters edge and relax on your vacation. The water is warm and crystal clear. Swim out to the bathing platform and soak up some sunshine before cooling off on your return swim. If you require privacy, our balcony is not overlooked at all but still soaks up the sunshine. There are kayaks, jet skis and motor boats for hire through Villa Bili for the active minded. Also available for a small fee through Villa Bili is the use of the indoor pool, sauna and gymnasium room on the ground floor of the apartment block. If you like beach holidays, the village beach (pebbles) is 100 metres at the end of the road. You can also walk to it using the waterfront path. There are other beaches in the area. There is a restaurant and bar at Villa Bili with a good choice of menu, but there are several restaurants on the coast road north and south and in the nearby towns of Opuzen, Klek and Neum, all a short distance away.
Other Activities Motor boats, jet ski, canoeing, photographic safaris
