The view from the balcony looks out to the Adriatic Ocean with a wonderful sea view out to the islands of Brac and Hvar. NOW ONLY 1 HOUR FROM SPLIT AIRPORT - Promanja is a small peaceful village situated at the foot of the Biokovo Mountain Range and forms part of the Makarska Riveria on the Dalmatian coast. Situated in a beautiful area the nearby Nature Park has rare species of plants and animals, many hike the paths through vineyards and olive groves for fine views over the old town of Makarska. Situated in a naturally protected harbour; the Osejava cape closing in from the south-east side and peninsula of St. Peter's from the Northwest. The town expands amphitheatrically up to slopes of mountain Biokovo. A short boat trip takes you to the Islands of Brac and Hvar where there are numerous opportunities to explore the beaches in Brac and the elegant renaissance buildings and hilltop fortresses in sunny Hvar. The location makes it ideal to explore the coastline, mountains and surrounding islands.

How to get there?: Now only 1 1/4 hours from Split Airport. The most direct route is to fly to Split where you have the option of public transport or car hire to take you to the apartment, the drive is approx 30 minutes. Flights are now available with Easy Jet from as little as £50.00 return as well as regular flights with British Airways and other charter companies. The best car hire deals are booked from the UK and the owner can help with this upon request. The owner can also arrange for a private car to collect you and take you to and from Split airport. Direct flights are also available to Dubrovnik where the drive takes a little longer at approx 2 hours, however this is the most beautiful coastline. Flights are available with British Airways, Croatian Airways, First Direct and Thomas Cook. Excel Airlines and Sky scanner have good information (please ask for website links). You can also fly Ryanair to Ancona (Italy) and get the overnight ferry to Split - Cheapest route during peak perio

On Arrival: On arrival you will be greeted by our local representative who will hand over the keys and show you around the apartment. An emergency contact number will also be provided. Assistance can be provided on local facilities and excursions upon request. Croatians are very friendly people and are happy to help holiday makers, the economy on the Dalmatian Coast is largely dependant on tourism and you will find hospitality, cleanliness and facilities to be first class.

Lovely apartment with great sea views. The kitchen was small but very well equipped which was great. A nice clean modern bathroom with a good shower and the washing machine proved a useful addition. The bedrooms, although small had ample storage.
Overall, a clean, modern, well equipped and comfortable apartment. I would recommend it for a family of four with two young'ish' children as the second bedroom has bunk beds.
Main beach about a fve minute walk down the hill - although very busy in August so would recommend a short stroll away to find quieter spots. A good base for touring as an hours drive from Split and a couple of hours from Dubrovnik which is worth the drive. A great stay.

Great apartment, busy place in peak season

The apartment is modern, very clean and well kitted out, with everything a family needs. It was really nice to find a few extra things like fishing nets in the wardrobe which the children could take to the beach. The bedrooms are small, especially the double - just room for the bed really, but adequate. We self catered every night and found the apartment very comfortable for this, with everything we needed to cook nice meals in the kitchen and a lovely balcony view of the sunset, with just about enough space outside for all of us to sit.
We found the parking space a little tight to get in and out of in a big car - though this is the same all over the Croatian coast in the peak season.
Overall our main gripe would be that the resort (and everywhere else we tried along the coast) was SO busy during the time we were there. The beaches are beautiful but they were more crowded than any beaches we have ever seen - leave your spot for a swim and when you come back someone will have moved in on top of you!
We enjoyed day trips to Split and Mostar and also a day trip on a boat from Makarska to Hvar and Bol (saved the hassle of queuing to take your car on the ferry). The clear water was great for snorkelling, provided you could find sufficient space away from other tourists! Our favourite thing was hiring a pedalo with slide from the beach in Promajna and spending some quiet hours enjoying the ocean in relative serenity!

Lovely apartment in a lovely spot

We have just returned from a wonderful week in Promajna - a small but peaceful resort handily located an hour or so from Split and several hours from Dubrovnik. We enjoyed lots of day trips (having hired a car) to both cities (Dubrovnik is a long drive but well worth it!) and also to Brac and Hvar (also long days). Hvar Town is well worth a visit in particular but watch the timings for the catamaran / ferries and you can only buy outward tickets on the day of travel and the catamaran gets sold out quickly. You can sail to Brac from Makarska which is handy but to get to Hvar you need to go to Split.

Promajna itself was great for chilling out on the beach - it does get busy but we always found a nice spot. We ate at several of the local restaurants during our stay - they were pretty comparable though the panorama (at the far end of town towards Makarska) was the most expensive but had spectacular views of the sunset and the menu was perhaps the most interesting, Children aren't often catered for specifically - we only have one child so often would get two main dishes and a side salad and split between the three of us.

As others have said - it is quite a steep climb back up to the apartment but it is handily positioned not too far out of town. It should be noted the allocated car parking space is A6 - up the ramp towards the back of the building - this wasn't mentioned before arrival but was no big deal once Pelo the local rep arrived.

The apartment was well fitted out - most things needed and a fantastic shower which was very welcomed after a very hot week. My main gripe on the apartment was there was no oven - there is a ceramic hob and microwave but I was expecting a normal oven. Not a massive problem. I would also say it would have been a bit nicer to have a few essentials stocked in the flat on arrival eg there was only one loo roll - and that was started, there were no dish cleaning items- eg washing up liquid, sponges. Therefore I had to stock up on all these basics which I left behind and hopefully will be left for the next visitors. There is a very handy supermarket (small but well stocked) on the hill down to the sea on the right hand side - just a few minutes walk which opens from 7.00 - 21.00 - they get fresh bread daily. There is a much larger version of the same shop on the coast road at the other side of Makarska if you want to have a good stocking up.

All in all a fantastic holiday enjoyed by the three of us!

Enjoyable stay

We had an enjoyable stay in Promajna. The flat is not huge but was fine for us (2 adults + 3 small children). It is in excellent condition with all mod cons and small touches like beach mats and lilo were appreciated. Dealings with the owner and his local rep were smooth and stress free. The kids loved the resort which was well geared up for families. The setting is beautiful with a pine fringed pebble beach and the mountains rising dramatically behind with Croatia's trademark aquamarine waters. When we were there the holidaymakers were 95% Croatian so you really feel that you are abroad. My only gripes would be that the restaurants are quite expensive and not great quality and the beach was very crowded but this was the case everywhere we went in Croatia. The appartment is also at the top of the village so a bit of a slog if you are carrying beach gear and/or kids. Overall I would definitely recommend.

Very nice and quiet apartment

The apartment is large, in perfect state and well furnished. The terrasse allows for very pleasant breakfast and dinner (nice sunset).
The beach is about 500m down the street from appartment, which is not too far to walk but enough to avoid noise. Noteworthy that it is a peeble beach (as nearly everywhere in Croatia), with nice view on the mountains when swimming.
Owner's Response: We enjoy the apartment and the area very much when we visit with the family. It is also nice to receive feedback from our guests as we make a lot of effort to ensure that the apartment is maintained to a very high standard.
