The small village of Komarna is on the Croatian coast 70 kilometers North of Dubrovnik and 130 km South of Split.

Komarna is a very secure and calm place. Beautiful nature surrounds it and Komarna has the cleanest sea water you can find in the Mediterranean.

Komarna is a former fisherman's village and now primarily a summer resort for people in the surrounding area. The mixture of local people and summer guests is just right and the village is an unspoiled, friendly and safe place where children may run around without getting in trouble.

There is one small hotel with a restaurant that is open during the tourist season, one konoba (café) and a mini-market.

Three kilometers to the South is the holiday resort Klek with a selection of restaurants, bars and shops and further five kilometers take you to Neum in Bosnia-Herzegovina where there are several big shops and hotel.

Komarna is an ideal base for sightseeing to many interesting places and world-class tourist attraction

Further details for this holiday apartment rental in Komarna, Croatia

Activities: There is always a game on in the town's football pitch when night falls. However, activities in Komarna are primarily in the water or at the water front.

The Neretva Valley is an area where tribes, nations and their armies have fought for dominance since the beginning of time. Through the Neretva Valley, the trade routes have gone since prehistoric time. The valley has a rich monumental heritage witnessing the presence of man in this area for thousands of years. Many prehistoric fortifications and settlements are scattered on high or low grounds along the Neretva River.

If you like to visit historic places you can find many recommendations in the guidebook we have written and placed in the apartments.

If you like wine, it is interesting to visit Peljesac and taste the local wine produced from the indigenous Plavac Mali.

And don't miss spectacular and little known places as Kravica Waterfalls, Bacina Lakes, Mostar, Narona.

If you like a little action our canoe safari is fun.

Eating out: A typical lunch cost around €8 including a beverage. A delicious wine 'n' dine with fish or meat as the main course will set you back € 12-15. However, be prepared to pay a little more if you go to typical tourist restaurants in Ston or Dubrovnik.

The restaurant in Villa Bili is the only option if you want to dine out in Komarna. It has a good kitchen and very reasonable prices. You don't have to eat there though. You can of course settle for an ice-cream, a soft drink or a cup of coffee.

You may also have a meal at the Konoba close to Villa Bili. Just remember to order it the day before – or at least several hours in advance. They will then prepare anything you want based on fresh meat or fish.

On the coastal road towards Klek, there is a restaurant in Duboka. It seems to be open all year and has a reasonable good selection of food. It is always closed on Sundays.

For a greater selection of restaurants go to Klek or to Neum.

Dubrovnik: One word: Go! It's tempting to spend every day of your vacation on the beach. However, do allow yourself at least one excursion. Dubrovnik is a United Nations UNESCO Heritage Site. The reason for appointing these is 'Protecting natural and cultural properties of outstanding universal value against the threat of damage in a rapidly developing world', as the UN puts it.

Dubrovnik is known as The Pearl of The Adriatic. Retaining its status as one of the most important Mediterranean ports from the 13th century onwards rich Dubrovnik merchants have left a city plastered with magnificent Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque building. Churches being most notable of course.

However, you don't have to be interested in history or architecture to enjoy Dubrovnik. Being a university town it's a 'young town' with numerous concerts, a theatre, an opera, shops, market and greater scores of great seafood restaurants that you'd expect to find in a 70.000 population small town.

Other Activities:

The area is rich with cultural and historical sites

Absolutely beautiful location.

Review Submitted: April 9, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2007
Clear warm seas and two nice beaches. The accomodation was very comfortable and really accessible to the waterfront and beach. It had three terraces two at the front upper and lower lever and one at the back which was shared with the other four houses and with a very nice garden where the children could feed the tortoises. The rear area had a larger area for eating with barbeque. The different situations of the terraaces meant that you had shade or sun at any time of the day depending on your preference. The house was spacious for holiday accomodation and not at all cramped.
A car is a necessity in this location. Public transport is awkward to use and the roads even to the next village are not suitable to walk on as they are too close to fast moving traffic for comfort.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children
Owner's Response: Thank you. You are right about the roads and the traffic. I also recommend a car - especially in May and October where the shop may be closed. But we have had several guests who managed without a car and were quite happy to walk or use a rented bicycle for their shopping.

Enjoyable holiday experience in excellent property

Review Submitted: August 31, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010
On our arrival In Kormarna, Vanja (housekeeper) was there ready to greet us. The apartment was very clean and spacious despite having 2 teenage children. I enjoyed the 3 terraces as we could always seek shade no matter the time of day. We had our meals in the rear garden most evenings and made use of the BBQ. We hired a car for the whole 2 weeks and made use of this on a daily basis. We enjoyed our many trips into Klek for the beach and returned to Komarna on an afternoon to use the local beach only a few minutes walk away . The sea is beautiful to swim in and so warm in July/Aug. We also visted many places including Kravica waterfalls, ( a must)! Orebic inwhich we caught a little boat to the island of Korcula. We ventured over the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina and visted Mostar and even travelled 3 hours to Sarajevo. We made use of the owners guide book and visted many places. Kormarna is ideally situated for both a relaxing and sightseeing holiday. Kormarna itself is a picturesque village and I miss my evening walk along the Seafront. Apartment Tedo is an excellent property to stay and would fully recommend to anyone! Many Thanks to the owners for a a fantastic holiday!!!

Very good experience

Review Submitted: August 6, 2010 Date of Stay: June 2010
Our family had a very good experience in Komarna. The apartment is clean and amply furnished. The location is an excellent base from which to explore diverse destinations ranging from Dubrovnik to Mostar. And the tortoises proved to be a high point. Bring extra lettuce!

Review Submitted: December 6, 2007 Date of Stay: December 2007
Diane and I enjoyed our stay in Komarna. We had quite a busy holiday with plenty to do. The apartment was very well furnished and equipped (the washing machine especially useful.) Will recommend to friends who may be thinking of going to Croatia. Thank you for having us as guests.
Kind regards, David

Peter and I wanted to write and say what a fantastic holiday we had at Apartment Tedo in Komarna.
It was one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited and think it was the best holiday we have ever had and we have travelled quite extensively. The people were so friendly and the Apartment was lovely and well equipped. The view at the front was just magnificent - I want to move there and write my memoirs!!
I have been telling everyone I work with.... how fantastic Croatia is so perhaps you will get more British visitors next year - us included I hope. With very best wishes, Katrina
