The detached stone house is set in a walled garden within the 13th century town walls. Moments from the busy square yet secluded with shady terraces to sit out on.There are sea views from the house and garden. In the ground floor is the kitchen diner while outside is the 'Dvor' a yard ,shaded by an orange tree,where the family would traditionally take meals. Access to the garden is from the first floor. There is another terrace here shaded by an ancient vine.The main part of the garden is down to lawn for sunbathing . The house is newly decorated with all new linen and bed-cloths.

Hvar town has the most perfectly preserved Town Square from the Venetian era outside Dubrovnik. It plays the role of sitting room to the town with the Cathedral at one end and the Venetian Theatre over the boathouse at the other. Set within the 13th century town walls the stone house has beautiful views of the port and enjoys a garden, with shady vines, bougainvillea, pomegranate and an orange tree, to sunbathe and relax in. The town attracts the glitterati from all over the world who arrive in spectacular yachts for the stunning architecture and seafood restaurants. The town centre is a car free zone making it a safe playground for children who can explore the winding cobbled streets, the Venetian Palaces and the busy harbour. Inland the mountains rise to 2000 feet with hill towns set among the vineyards, olive groves and the fields of Lavender. The scent of lavender greets the seaborne visitores.

Notes: The kitchen has cooker, hob, fridge and plenty of units. In the ground floor is the kitchen diner while outside is the 'Dvor' a yard shaded by the orange tree. Where the family would traditionally take meals. Access to the garden is from the first floor. There is another terrace here shaded by the ancient vines as well as a lawn. The house is newly decorated with all new linen and bed-cloths. It is only a 5 minutes walk past the shops and stalls on the seafront to the nearest beach. The best swimming is near the Amphora hotel where there is plenty of room and excellent restaurants for snacks and cappuccino. The island has the highest number of sunshine hours of any Adriatic resort. Due to its position well away from the mainland it also has pollution free seas. The town itself has a southerly aspect sheltered by the mountains to the North. The Pakleni otoci are a necklace of islands directly to the south which shelter the port from high seas.

The location is first class being within moments of the stunning Venetian Square with its coffee shops, restaurants and bars. It is also only 5 minutes walk to the nearest beach. On nearby beaches there is sailing, water skiing, banana rides and windsurfing available. Easyjet now fly to Split which has cut the cost of flying dramatically. There are 3 sailings each day from Split to Hvar Town for pedestrians. .

The Dvor has a table and chairs plus parasol for eating out. The garden has a lawn for sunbathing, sun loungers, parasols and another table and chairs under the shady vines.

A car is not essential but it does make it easier to explore the island. It is 70 kilometres long and there are wonderful beaches and villages to visit on the coast as well as stunning scenery inland with walking and mountain bike trails marked in the mountains. There is a full programme of cultural events through the summer including concerts in the Franciscan monastery, music in the Venetian theatre [the oldest in Europe] and more concerts in the town square

Other Activities: Hvar town is also a Mecca for nightlife with 2 venues which keep the clubbers going to 5.00am every morning

A very great time in Hvar...

I spent last summer in this amazing house and city.
I came from France with 9 friends. At the arrival, when we discovered the house, we were charming!
The house is really big for 10 people. All is clean and you can enjoy a wonderful time on the terrace which is covered by a greenroof very pleasant. You can make everything on this terrace: dinner, lunch, afternoon nap...
The house has also a really great situation in the center of the city. You are close to shops, bars, harbor, beaches without being disturb by the people.
Furthermore I had a really good connection with the owner who is friendly, serious and trustworthy.
For all this reasons I recommend who wants to have an amazing and peaceful holiday to come in this house.

A spacious house with a large elevated patio and magnificent views. Comfortable stay for us 6 Kiwis, we would visit again. Only a short walk to a bakery and small shop, food, vegetables wine and beer available. A longer walk along the esplanade to the local supermarket. A very helpful landlady assisting with restaurant bookings and discounted ferry tickets. One will not require a car. A short walk down steps to Mlini harbour with cafes, internet access and restaurants. Ferries operate regular services to Dubrovnik and other ports. Car parking is difficult and can be expensive in the city, catch the ferry. A comfortable chair on the patio, a good book, a glass of wine its heaven.
