Set within a small complex in a quiet location on the outskirts of Polis,our light and airy first floor apartment (Crusty Hills as we call our bolt-hole in the sun) is situated a stone's throw from the beach of Chyrsochou Bay, but it is only 10/15 minutes walking distance to the town centre with all its amenities including restaurants, supermarkets, banks, etc. With balconies at front and rear, there is a choice of spectacular views either of the Akamas peninsula or the rugged hills of the Pafos forest. As well as a haven for those seeking rest and tranquility in a pleasant and friendly environment, Polis is an ideal base for hiking and biking, exploring the stunning scenery of the Akamas nature reserve or the Troodos mountains, snorkelling or scuba-diving in the clear Mediterranean waters. A short drive takes you to the small fishing port of Latchi, renowned for its harbour-side fish restaurants, sea-sport facilities and boating excursions - a must for all Polis visitors.

Polis, which in Greek means town, is on the wide Chrysochous Bay that runs along the northwest sweep of Cyprus from the Akamas Peninsula to Pomos Point, at the start of the the island's Tylliria wilderness. Polis offers the ideal holiday for those who appreciate authenticity and seek rest and tranquility in a pleasant and friendly environment, which blends mountains and plain with a wonderful healthy climate, particularly warm clear seas and secluded beaches. It's a laid-back sort of place with lots of old-fashioned nooks and crannies, in addition to a picturesque central pedestrian area mostly given over to tavernas, restaurants (with some of the best and most affordable dining to be had in the whole of Cyprus) and shops. The leisurely pace of life here is a welcome sign of just how different things are in this part of Cyprus. Nonetheless, Polis is considered to be an excellent location for those who enjoy active holidays, whether on land or sea.

The apartment has an open-plan living/kitchen area with the lounge comprising two leather sofas, coffe table and occasional table, TV (Satellite), DVD and CD player. Two framed prints and two iron artefacts reflect the character of the owners - we hope you like them as much as we do. The kitchen is fully equipped including a full size oven, hob and hood, fridge freezer and washing machine. Air-conditioning throughout is available at the daily rate of Euros 2.50 per unit - payable locally to our agent.

An information folder details places of interest in and around the Polis area, restaurants and tavernas to wine and dine, and lots more. A selection of books and DVD's are available for guests' use.

The pool has the facilities of a poolside shower, toilet, and changing room. Beach/poolside towels are not provided.

two weeks cycling october 2008

my wife and i had a glorious two weeks in october, the apartment was better than we expected from the information in the web site. directions from the airport were clear and easy to follow, we found the place on google earth which was a bonus and we new just how close to the sea it was. the apartment was very clean and well presented and contained everything and more that you would expect from a holiday apartment. the washing machine was really useful as we were cycling most days. they have produced a great folder with all the information you would need to explore the local area and more. the apartment is in a quiet location a 10 minute walk from the town, the road is not very well lit in places so a torch may be useful. there were some good restaurants in town and a couple that weren't so good. the pick was a fish restaurant that is ran by a fishing family, very unassuming but very good and fairly cheap. the town of Polis now has a large supermarket, but there are several smaller mini-markets in the town too. several beaches are close enough that you can walk to, they are shingle but pretty quiet. if you want sandy beaches the closest is probably coral bay which is a 30 - 40 minute drive over the mountains which affords some stunning scenery. there are several places in town to hire a car, scooter or bicycle, shop around and don't be afraid to haggle on the price. some nice flattish runs along the coast and some steep hills inland. we would certainly recommend this as a holiday, the owners provide an excellent service, thanks for a great holiday.

We enjoyed our stay at the apartment very much indeed.We found everything we needed to enjoy our stay in the apartment. The swimming pool we virtualy had to ourselves and we found the people living in the other apartments very friendly.Polis town centre with all its bars and eateries is well within an easy walk. Carol made us feel very welcome and has now become a new friend.
We will recomend Crusty Hills to anyone wanting a relaxing and uncomplicated stay in a lovely part of Cyprus.

Sehr schöne Wohnung in ruhiger Ecke von Zypern

Die Wohnung war noch schöner als wir erwartet hatten. Sie ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sehr gut ausgestattet. Es gibt zwei Terrassen, so dass man immer im Schatten draußen sitzen oder essen kann. Alles, auch der pool, ist sehr sauber und gepflegt. Die Lage ist ruhig, zehn Minuten zu Fuß zur Stadt. Der Strand direkt bei der Wohnung ist steinig, aber sehr leer und schön. Richtung Akamas-Halbinsel gibt es wunderschöne Strände. Wir waren Ende Mai dort, und es war angenehm leer überall. Die Vermieter sind unheimlich nett und bemühen sich, dass ihre Mieter einen schönen Aufenthalt haben. Sie haben vorab alle Fragen sofort und umfassend beantwortet. Ihre Beschreibungen sind sehr gut, sie haben eine Mappe mit vielen guten Informationen zusammengestellt. Wir können die Wohnung auf jeden Fall empfehlen. Wir waren mit zwei Kindern dort, und fanden es sehr angenehm, dass sie allein zum pool oder zum Strand gehen können. Dieser Teil von Zypern ist für Leute geeignet, die es gerne ruhig haben, die gerne wandern oder Rad fahren (auf der Akamas-Halbinsel) und die gerne schwimmen und am Strand sind. Es gibt in Polis und Latchi viele gute Restaurants, in Latchi gibt es viele Wassersport-Möglichkeiten: Jet-Ski, Wasserski, Tauchen, Bootfahrten,etc. Besonders schön fanden wir das "Bad der Aphrodite" und die Avagas-Schlucht.
