A good stay but felt very let down

Date of Stay: October 2009
I have recently returned from a 1 week stay in this villa. The first issue we had was finding the villa, we were provided with a google ovehead map with grid references and that was it to find the villa, this surprisingly wasn't enough for the Cyrpiot taxi driver, we eventually found the villa after we found the complex and had to try ALL the key boxes before we accidently stumbled across the correct one after nearly 1 hour. The next problem was once we had opened the door to the Villa we were greeted by a pile of washing sat by washing machine, toilet bins not cleaned, not swept at all from the last occupants leaving hair and sand all over the floor, the beds were not made and the bedding laid at the bottom of the stairs - Bascially it looked as if the cleaners had been called away part way through the exit clean from the last people who were there. As you would expect this really didn't start our holiday very at all, despite the villa being very nice and located on the end of a lovely quiet block. The next problem we then had was the first day wehn we went down to the pool area. We were told by Adam (The owner) that the villa shared a pool with 6 other villa's and there would be plenty of sunbeds. In one respect he was right, there are only 6 villas that share the pool, however, there are also 10 town houses and numrous apartments as well. There were 2 sun beds at the villa and about 6 to share around the pool, all of which were in use every day we went down to the pool. Unfortunately there were a nunmber of other issues as well which blighted our stay, including the amount of taxi rides required to get about to any of the other parts of Paphos. It says on here that car not required, which to a point I do agree with, however, when the sun is 35c and ther eare no beds by the pool, walking 2km to the beach was not really an opiton. We will have spent well over 200euros on taxi's within the week, so bare that in mind! To conclude, we did have a good time and the villa is very nice, however, we felt misold by some of the things we were told and also extremely disappointed to arrive (eventually) to a villa which required us to spend our first evening emptying someone else's toilet bins, cleaning the villa and making the beds.
Owner's Response: Renters are given the full address, google map & even the exact GPS location if requested so finding the villa is fairly easy. It's worth pre-booking a taxi from the Airport by using our Transfer Service as this will firstly be cheaper & save any confusion. We have our own transfer service which we offer to all renters. The difference in cost of hiring a Taxi from one company to another can be vastly different so always ask for a fixed price before you hire. The beach is 1km away so within walking distance though I would think twice about walking in August when the temperature can soar to the high 40's/early 50's. In October average temperature's are in the low/mid 20's.
It's worth trying to negotiate a good rate with the Taxi Company beforehand especially now with the weak pound.
In the unlikely event that there are any discrepancies, beds not made, not enough sun loungers or tin opener missing, etc... we or the local agent needs to be notified as soon as possible so that this can be resolved. Likewise if any item is broken or damaged we need to be notified as per our Terms & Conditions.
