Villa Alice Paphos August 2008
Review Submitted: October 10, 2008
Date of Stay: August 2008
We rented this villa for two weeks in August 2008. Whilst I was already warned I had to pay extra for airconditioning, I did not expect to have to pay the whole amount of Euros due for the two week's air conditioning the night we picked the key up.
The villa itself, whilst promoted as luxury and newly built, was neither. I do not feel bare light bulbs and tatty throws over the sitting room furniture are items of luxury. In the dining area the table was not big enough for 10 people to sit round and indeed outside there were not even enough chairs or sun loungers - 8 of the former and 7 of the latter.
One bedroom did not have anywhere to keep your clothes and all of the bedding in all of the rooms was mismatched and of poor quality.
On about our third night we had a problem with the electricity - we had none - and were unable to contact the owner until nearly lunchtime the following morning - again service not associated with the term luxury.
As part of our rental we had a weekly maid service. However, we had to chase this up because the owner presumed we did not want it - obviously we presumed that it would happen automatically half way through our rental. The pool was not cleaned properly and indeed a few times we ourselves had to clean the filter out etc.
Whilst the position of the villa was indeed very close to the sea - it was very rocky and there was no beach nearby - it was disappointing that in fact the villa was situated in what was still a building site; as directly opposite there were at least three villas still being built and the road was not tarmac but a dirt track! This was despite our villa already being 6 years old. So the term newly built really does not still apply and indeed the property is now in need of updating and decorating.
So to conclude - this villa was not luxurious nor newly built and having stayed in villas, rented from this same site that did indeed live up to their description, I would not recommend Villa Alice.
Owner's Response: To whom this may concern,
I certainly do not agree with the review of this person staying in Villa Alice.
Aircondition is well presented in my advertising with you, the exact cost of it and the way this is paid. So, i can not see why these people were surprised of the extra cost of aircondition.
There was a power cut/problem which we fixed right the next day, still can not see where the arguement is. As a matter of fact, we managed to find a technitian the day this happened where this day was a bank holiday and nobody was working.
The villa was cleaned without any difficulty in terms of disussing it.
The pool was checked twice a week and we asked the people to contribute in keeping the pool clean by showering themselves before using the pool.
We can not be responsible for a beach which according to weather/winds it sometimes bring more sand on the beach or the opposite.
We could say lots of comments for this situation but our major concern is this:
Why after our every day visit to the property, asking them if everything was ok, they never complain and the only reply was : ''.... everything is fine, no problem.. '' .
We rent the property for nearly six years, we never had a problem, this is the first time and we must admit we would not expect it from them according to their behaviour while they were here.
Thank you for your understanding,
Vasso
