"Not what we expected"

We booked this villa after many hours of looking and searching. It looked Pretty good from the pictures we saw and liked the idea the sea was so close.
When arriving things were a different matter.
The villa is alot smaller then appears in the photos and the pool is very small. Shutters were also locked up so it looked all gloomy. When opening these it was if they haven't been opened in a while. The biggest problem though was the cleanliness of the place. Peoples old socks were left by the sofa, lighters on beds, swimming stuff outside. On the balcony peoples clothes were left. Water and mud in the main bedroom and general grime. It was as if people were still staying there.
Both toilets were broken and blind pulls. Another problem was the grass. When its says lawn, the grass is rocky and dead with spiky weeds. No way can anyone use it as a sun bathing area or even to walk on. There is also a bbq at this villa but has rusted away in the corner with cobwebs everywhere.
We had cleaners and maintenance people round to correct these issues but missed our cruise planned the next day because someone had to come fix the toilet and we needed to be in for him. As you can imagine we were not happy missing days of our holiday and wasting money.
After this was cleaned up and were compensated for days missed, we did begin to enjoy ourselves. The views are lovely and the beach and shops are very near.We also liked the fact paphos was close and the waterpark. We had a lot of fun visiting here. However there is a huge hill to walk to the main shops that even our car found tough to manage. Avoid at all costs if you disabled or unfit.
Overall the villa is small. Especially if 4 or more guests stay herelet alone 6. We definatly found from the moment we got there it was not worth the amount we paid for it.
Coral bay is one of the most lovely areas we have been to and we will return but definatly will stay at another villa or hotel.
Owner's Response: I was not quite sure if I were to reply to this guest because we spoke on the telephone. I did not expect such a damning review as I had found the comments made grossly exagerated to say the least. I recall the first complaint received was "you didn't tell me that there is a slope to get to the top of the road" Naturally there is a slope as the villa sits neatly beneath a cliff edge and therefor guarantees that no one from above will look into the private pool area. This hill is approximately 30 feet and no more than that and is not particularly steep at all. On the size of the villa, it consists of three average sized bedrooms which have been newly furnished. These are adequate for up to 6 persons to use in comfort. I do however accept responsibility on the cleaning of the villa as we had a late departure and the villa had not been cleaned in time. We did of coarse send the cleaners to rectify the situation. Interesting to note that this guest will return to Cyprus again but maybe stay at a hotel. Perhaps there had been a presumption that these are "holiday villas" within a resort and with communal facilities ? I can state sincerely that we have never received another complaint on the villa. We have one review as follows: Hi Chris. Just a note to say that your villa was everything to us and more.......this was our honeymoon and the location was just perfect. I have already recommended it to loads of people. Also, could you thank Savvas for us. He collected us from the airport and was lovely. Thank you again. Regards C & A
