The northern Cyprus Region:
Climate: Northern Cyprus is blessed with the most pleasing climate in the whole of Europe. The winters are mild and rarely extend beyond February and with over 300 days of sunshine a year, the temperatures can reach into the 70s as early as March. In April and May Cyprus is at it's most beautiful with fields of wild flowers in full bloom and the weather is not unlike that of good English summer. July and August are the hottest months and ideal for sun worshippers. Not surprisingly September and October are the most popular months as the weather is still wonderfully warm (rarely below 80F), but the evenings are cooler.
To get a taste of Cyprus 30 years ago you are advised to visit the Karpaz peninsula where time stands still. There are miles of sandy beaches with not a person in sight even in the summer. Ancient towns, basilicas, ruins and tombs scatter the area waiting to be explored. Be sure to visit the old dungeons in Famagusta and the ancient ruins at Salamis.
