Kyrenia Holiday August 2009

Just got back from our great holiday in Northern Cyprus, staying in Grants excellent value for money, high specification, 3 large bedroom villa.
Before we went, a number of friends who had been to Southern Cyprus were getting us a bit worried about the standard of facilities we would find in the North, compared to the South - but their opinions were sadly based on Greek inspired propaganda rather than actual experience. The North is certainly less developed, but when you consider the generally over developed mediterranean this can be only a good thing . Having said that, there is a lot a development going on in Northern Cyprus, that is clear, especially in Kyrenia, but this is generally along the main road leading into what is a lovely old town with a spectacular harbour overlooked by an excellent example of 15th century Venitian castle! Something for everyone, history, shopping, loads of excellent restaurants, bars and casinos! We didnt get around to visiting all of Northern Cyprus, but of those towns that we did visit , Kyrenia was by far the best. And the people are genuinely friendly.
Grants villa is modern, excellent value for money, lovely pool which although unheated, at least in August was like getting into a bath, even in the evening - and its private, not overlooked by any other of the villas in the small street it is on - if skinny dipping is your thing- no problem!
The standard of cleanliness was excellent, both in the villa, which is done before arrival and every Sunday, and of the pool which is done three times a week. Grant offered a shopping list service before we went so we found a fridge full of everything we asked for on arrival, which as this was one o'clock in the morning , was great. We just paid a few extra lira on top of the cost of the groceries , for this , which was excellent value. The pictures barely do the villa justice, it is modern, with air conditioning as advertised (very welcome), excellently furnished with a well equipped kitchen (although could do with a cheese grater and a teapot!). British plug sockets, has a iron and ironing board, water cooler, family DVD's available, wardrobes with hangers, everything as you see in the photos!.The hire car service organised by Grant was excellent value for money.
RECOMMEND - Mos Restaurant (and free pool), Buffevento Restaurant( on top of pass to Nicosia, great food - great value), Acupulco Beach club (and water slides)
NOT RECOMMEND - Diana beach, Aqua Park,
You will Enjoy
