At the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula is its most famous resort, Sharm el Sheikh. Long regarded as the best resort in the country, the city is located on the shores of the Red Sea, and offers fantastic opportunities for snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming and water sports. This busy tourist resort also has a vibrant nightlife, glorious beaches and virtually every other type of tourist attraction imaginable. Visitors can choose to stay in a luxury villa or modern apartment – a great base from which to enjoy this hugely popular resort.

Along the eastern coast of the Sinai Peninsula is the city of Dahab, which is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts. As well as being renowned for its windsurfing, Dahab is regarded as the region’s best diving spot. There are cultural activities to be enjoyed as well, with Saint Catherine’s Monastery a popular destination, and from here it is just a two hour drive to the biblical Mount Sinai.

Average temperatures in Sharm el Sheikh range from 23C to 35C, with July and August the hottest months in which to visit. Dahab has slightly cooler winter low temperatures but similar summer highs. Rainfall in the region is almost non-existent all year round.

Travel to the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt

The Sinai Peninsula is now as easily accessible to UK travellers as more traditional European destinations, with Thomas Cook, easyJet and Jet2 just some of the airlines regularly flying to Sharm el Sheik International Airport, many of which offer budget flights. Those holidaying in Dahab will be required to make a 100km drive from the airport in order to get to their destination.
