Further details for this holiday apartment rental in Cumbria - Lake District, United Kingdom

Grasmere is the 'Jewel of the English Lakes' one of the most beautiful of the lakeland villages. The most famous resident William Wordsworth described it as 'the loveliest spot that man bath ever found' and most people agree with his sentiments today. There are many walks in the area for all levels of walkers. The village boasts several pubs and restaurants, art galleries and gift shops. The River Rothay runs through on it's way to Grasmere lake, where you can hire a rowing boat or just sit and admire the views. As the apartment was purchased for use as our 'second home' we have furnished it to a high standard, and we feel you will have a very relaxing holiday. From the windows at the rear of the property you look onto the river with uninterrupted views across parkland towards the fells and yet you are able to walk straight into the village from the gate, without having to use a car.

Our internet booking proved to be very worthwhile. We have had a very happy week here.
We've had a super holiday in a super apartment in a super village. This apartment will be the gold standard by which all other apartments will be judged -here and in Germany! The best holiday we have had for years even if our muscles are aching and we did'nt have time to peruse your excellent library -Mr & Mrs D.
In 30 years of renting in the Lakes we have never had better accommodation nor have we had a warmer welcome- Mr & Mrs F.
Thank you enjoyed our 5th stay here the flat was great as usual hope to be back soon- Keith G.
Once again a restful break, weather great have managed some great walks, roll on November-Chris & Gerry

A comfortable and relaxing property

We spent a week in the Lake district during August and found that teh location of Grasmere to be pretty central to the area as well as being pretty quiet. The apartment offers full kitchen facilities, washing and drying facilities, full central heating, pay phone, TV, DVD, Video and sterio system. Access to the apartment is via a staircase to the rear of the property right by the river. The first floor has a shower room/bathroom, a twin bedroom and kitchen/living area. The top floor has a double bed (very comfortable) with a full bathroom. The living area has a bay window overlooking the river and views across to hills. The children often wee found looking out of the window watching the duck swim by! Outside offers the opportunity to relax under the bay window, the owners having provided a couple garden chairs.
Overall it is very comfortable, has all the essentials to ensure a relaxing return from long walks or whatever takes your fancy in the Lake district.

Fantastic apartment hope to be back soon

The apartment is situated in the centre of Grasmere. It is a lovely cosy place where we really felt at home. There was plenty of information in the apartment of things to do and a raft of walks that we must come back and try. plenty of DVDs, books and games etc if you just want to chill out. The window view is brilliant (fought over every day) and enjoyed watching the ducks in the day and the bats in the evening. Can thoroughly recommend The Ash Cottage for a lovely meal and the bistro at the end of the village. Hope to be back soon.

A lovely place to stay.

Review Submitted: February 24, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
Stayed here over February half term with two sons and husband. We thoroughly enjoyed the flat. It is cosy, clean and well maintained.
I also think that the location is fab. At the end of a beautiful village like Grasmere and so close to all amenities. Not much in the way of nice pubs though! The Lamb was pretty dire. No atmosphere and poor customer service. We frequented Tweedies which serves good range of real ale and guest beers.
Steer clear of The Miller Howe coffee shop. It is truly awful. No homemade cakes and coffee is tasteless not to mention the grotesque interior decoration! Go instead to the coffee shop attached to the little shop Attic. They have good homemade cakes and delicious coffee.

Lovely Lakeland Flat

Review Submitted: November 4, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We have stayed in this lovely flat 3 times and intend to keep going back whenever possible. Excellent facilities - the flat is well furnished and equipped and is always immaculately clean and well maintained. There is plenty of space, including a hall area which is great for storing walking gear. The parking space just yards from the flat is a real plus as parking can be difficult in Grasmere. The flat provides an ideal base for walking and sightseeing - several great walks can be started from the village and there is good access to other areas of the Lake District. There are several restaurants and cafes in Grasmere - we love The Jumble Room (book as soon as you arrive for an evening meal - it is very popular). Food shopping in Gramere is limited but we usually get round this by stopping in Keswick or Windermere on our way and then topping up at the local Co-op store if needed. Sandwiches etc for picnic lunches can be bought at shops in the village. We always receive a warm welcome and the owner phones after a day or two to check that everything is ok. We would recommend this flat to friends without hesitation.
