Great apartment, lovely area, friendly.

Review Submitted: June 21, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We (2 adults, 3 children aged 10, 12, 14 and dog) found the apartment very welcoming, with loads of local info to browse through on arrival. The local info was very useful and accurate which we used a lot. The village has some lovely walks and wished we could have stayed longer to explore more. The location of the apartment is excellent for those who want to visit the Lakes for a relaxing time or a more active time in Blackpool of which we did both! We were impressed with the cleanliness of the apartment and that it had all the home comforts, and more, e.g welcoming provisions and the beds all ready made up. The Ship Pub we highly reccommend for meals out and also The Royal Oak (about 4 miles away). A very family orientated base to organise your holiday from. Will certainly try to go there again.

Great Place to stay

Review Submitted: January 24, 2012 Date of Stay: January 2012
Thanks so much to Sue & Ray for letting us book at such short notice. It was a great little escape for the weekend. The apartment was excellent and we will return in the future.

So glad to have found you :)
Jo
Owner's Response: Great that you did find us, and that it was a good break ! As we run independantly, booking is quick, easy, and we are totally flexible where possible. However taking bookings for one night, and not insisting on a set arrivals and departure day is always very popular, many people book for more as it gets cheaper per night if you book more, e.g. we have a winter rate of £60 per night, which becomes only £300 for a whole week - bargain, in effect you get two nights free.
Try and come again in the summer and enjoy the garden with the stream beside it it is a good place to relax and unwind. Sue and Ray.

4 the croft

Review Submitted: January 5, 2012 Date of Stay: December 2011
we have used the croft for many visits and for all ages of family. my daughter lives just around the corner and it is fantastic for family members traveling from oxford. shops close by and i can recomend the pubs in the village. take a walk up to the crook and have a breakfast bap at woody's, then walk it off by walking along the river. we have just had a fantastic christmas there . we were able to invite inlaws as well. always a warm welcome and a good cuppa when you get there. thank you very much. my grandson has renamed it the white house.
Owner's Response: Thank you Linda for such a kind review, at a busy time of the year ! We like 'the white house' ! You are right, it is a lovely gentle part of the world. the apartment is great for families, as there is a deceptive amount of space, and if you come in the summer the garden gives even more. The pubs were a great place to see in the new year... especially as two are so close.
We have walked down to the river this afternoon as the sun made an appearance, the river was stunning, and as the sun started to go down we looked across the fields with the sheep... we love this area and are happy that you feel the same. Woodys is an institution !
Look forward to seeing you again, and thank you. Sue and Ray

Wonderful stay!

Review Submitted: December 13, 2011 Date of Stay: November 2011
We just returned from an unforgettable vacation in the Lancaster area and cannot overstate the excellent customer service we received and how happy we were with our accommodations. Upon our arrival we were welcomed by the owner and given some great tips on enjoying the beautiful area surrounding Caton. Our flat was absolutely spotless, very well maintained and included everything we needed throughout our stay. Since this was our first visit to the UK we were so grateful to Sue and Ray for the helpful information we received on touring the area and tips on getting around. They really made an extra effort to ensure that we enjoyed our stay and we are so grateful for all of their help. Just steps away from our front door, we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere at the Ship Inn for dinner and a beer in the evenings when we didn't feel like cooking. In Lancaster, don't miss the sticky toffee pudding at the Penny Street Bridge- AMAZING! Our family decided it was the best vacation we've had by far and are hoping we have the opportunity to visit again sometime. We definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the Lancaster area.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your very kind comments, we are so pleased you had a great time; it's a long way to come from America.
You certainly made the most of your time here and fully explored the North west of England, lake district, Liverpool, Manchester and Edinburgh !
We hope to recieve more visitors from the States, its a great base for the North as we are close to the M6 motorway, and are on the west coast main line for trains, as you said, we have plenty of local knowledge and maps etc. A real bonus is that you can fly to Manchester airport, then either get a train directly to Lancaster, and pick up a hire car, or hire stright from the airport.
Remember that if you do return, contact me in plenty of time about train tickets, if I book them for you in advance you will save a lot, and London is only two and a half hours by train.

All best wishes Sue and Ray
