Leigh House : is a Jacobean manor house probably built in 1617. By the time the Henley family sold the house in the early 20th century it had acquired Victorian and Edwardian extensions which carefully copied the orginal mullion-windowed, ham-stone building.

The : extensive farm-land was sold in the 1950s but the formal gardens were retained and are for you to use. we now enjoy the sights and occasional sounds and smells of the surrounding farms, whose fields undulate into Dorset and Devon, just down the lanes.

The house : is on the southernmost border of Somerset and within easy reach of Lyme Regis, Bridport, Beer and Sidmouth. Many National Trust properties are nearby and Ford Abbey with its beautiful garden is just a stroll away through the lanes. Leigh House is a Grade II* listed building.

lovely weekend

The house is wonderful and so is the welcome! We had a lovely time doing nothing but easily managed to travel into devon and dorset whilst staying in somerset.We felt we could have been in a four star hotel but without having to get up for breakfast.Lovely power shower and everything you could need at hand.Thank you we will be back again soon.

A unique and unforgettable stay in a magic environment.The impression to live in 17th century aristocratic England while enjoying all the mod.cons.The home is well-maintained and elegant, the garden is enchanting and our host so welcoming. We highly recommend the place.

Wonderful break

We've just got back from a wonderful stay at Leigh House. The house is as pictures show, but even better. Historic, yet comfortable, the apartment was warm and cosy with wood panelling in the sitting room. It's nice to have your own entrance so you can come and go as you please and feel like you live there! The bed is one of the most comfortable we've ever slept on. The setting is extremely peaceful and would offer a wonderful break for those wanted to get away from it all. Only downside was water pressure in the shower, but you can cope with that in such a historic, beautiful place.

The apartment is a wonderful romantic place steeped with history. The bedroom was on par with a boutique hotel room...egyptian cotton bedding!
We would love to come back in the spring/summertime to take in the full beauty of the garden and surroundings areas.
