Trewethern Barn has been recently converted to a very high standard of accommodation. It provides a terrific holiday environment being in the heart of the country with stunning views but within 10 minutes of the resorts of Rock and Polzeath. Rock offers sailing, water skiing and uncrowded beaches, whilst Polzeath is renowned for its surfing. Daymer Bay is a haven for young children and wind surfing. Golf courses abound.The spectacular North Cornish coast provides wonderful walks along the National Trust South West Coast path and for those who like to cycle there is the Camel trail along the side of the estuary with a varied bird population. Within easy reach is the Eden Project and the beautiful Cornish gardens. There are countless attractions for children from Zoos to Theme Parks. The Barn itself has been designed as a family holiday house with a large [38 foot] open plan sitting/dining/kitchen area. Upstairs there are 2 twin bedrooms and a single.

The Barn is set in the glorious North Cornwall countryside on the edge of a little hamlet about 1 mile from both St Kew and Chapel Amble (each has a well known Pub). Chapel Amble also has a Post Office and shop for all essentials. Close by are Port Isaac (Port Wenn of the Doc Martin series) and the town of Wadebridge with an excellent cinema and shops, supermarkets and a leisure centre. For golfers there is St Enodoc (one of the most beautiful courses), Roserrow (with a swimming pool, tennis courts and a fitness centre) and St Kew (only a few minutes away) and many others further afield. There is a large variety of walks on Bodmin Moor as well as the SW Coast path (particularly Pentire Head and the Rumps Cliff Castle), the Camel Trail and the Saints Way. The choice of food goes from Rick Stein at Padstow to excellent fish and chips.

  • Electricity included. The Barn is available from 3pm and has to be vacated by 10am on change over days.
    Out of season short breaks and October half term available - rates by negotiation.
  • Booking Conditions:-

    a. Bookings cannot be accepted by persons under 21 or when the majority of members are under 25 (except families}.
    b. The number of persons booking cannot be more than 5 (excluding babies under 2).
    c. No pets are allowed.
    d. Smoking is not allowed inside the property.
    e. A damage deposit of £50 is required on arrival and will be refunded within 2 weeks of leaving less any cost of damage or breakage.
    f. The hirer is strongly recommended to take out insurance to cover any cancellation charge as below
    g. Cancellation refunds:
    The deposit is non returnable
    Up to 8 weeks – no other cancellation charge,
    4-8 weeks – 50% of balance due,
    Less than 4 weeks – no refund.

The Gardens: Cornish gardens are wonderful and are some of the best in the world. They are at their best in Spring. Almost all are in in easy driving distance and include the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trelissick, Trebah, Lanhydrock, Trewithen, Pencarrow, and, on the Isles of Scilly, Tresco Abbey. The Eden Project is about 40 minutes away.

Golf: The courses in Cornwall provide a great variety for all standards of play. In addition to the local courses of St Enodoc, Roserrow and St Kew, there are, amongst many others, courses at Trevose, Lanhydrock, Bowood and the Jack Nicklaus designed St Mellion.

Other activities: The list of “things to do” is endless.Visit the National Maritme Museum, the Goonhilly Earth Station Experience, the famous Jamaica Inn, Tintagel, the Bodmin and Wenford steam railway or further away the Tate at St Ives or the Geevor Tin Mine Heritage. 1. We love it here.
2. We've had a lovely time. Your maps, restaurants and what to do list were v helpful and spot on. Perfect position. I'm sure we will come back another time.
3. We loved being at the barn - even when the weather was a challenge. It was lovely to be inside, nice and snug, when it sounded like the world was coming to an end outside! [when Cornwall had the serious storm on 27th October 2004].
4. A really fantastic week! Loved the Barn. Would recommend the Camel Trail for a great days cycle - stop at the borough Arms for lunch!
5. Great place, Polzeath recommended, surfing a must! Awesome holiday!
6. It was a short cosy weekend [November]. Very nice!!
7. Could not have asked for better weather! [also November!]. Fantastic walks particularly port Quinn to Port Isaac.
