Further details for this holiday cottage rental in Portscatho, United Kingdom

The Roseland Peninsula : The Roseland Peninsula is an area of breathtakingly diverse scenery, ranging from peaceful woods, dramatic cliffs, secluded coves, to golden sandy beaches, picturesque hamlets and fishing villages. With miles of paths, walking is a great way to explore the coast or watch the wildlife such as Seals, Dolphins and Peregrine Falcons. From the doorstep a path leads to a quay on the river Purcuil. Along the way there's a viewpoint with stunning views and benches, a great place to relax and ponder.

Portscatho: Quayway Lodge is approached along a private road about a mile from the fishing village of Portscatho. It's a timeless place and a honey pot for artists. Across the central square is Ralfs general store (for day-to-day needs), two art galleries, The Plume of Feathers and The Boathouse restaurants. The Post Office and Harbour Club overlook the harbour, with glorious views towards Porthcurnick beach. Nearby St Mawes is a haven for yachts and boats and has several waterside restaurants, pubs and cafés. The walk along the waterfront to St Mawes Castle has panoramic views of the harbour. Further on is Lammoran Gardens, a sub-tropical garden paradise. There are numerous sandy beaches with Porthcurnick, Pendower and Carne nearby. Towan beach, a National Trust gem, is just 3 minutes drive away. A short distance from here the coastal path leads to Island Rock, a great place to Seal watch. Further along the coastal path is the lighthouse at St Antony Head with spectacular views.

Explore Cornwall: The lodge is well placed for exploring the wealth of attractions in other parts cornwall. Take the scenic ferry crossing to Falmouth and visit the National Maritime Museum and Pendennis Castle. The King Harry ferry gives easy access to Truro, St Michael's Mount, St Ives, The Eden Project and Padstow.

Idylic Retreat

Review Submitted: February 26, 2012 Date of Stay: December 2011
We have visited Quayway Lodge quite a number of times now and have never been disappointed.

The property is always very clean and very well equipped, a home from home, the owners have thought of everything.

A place to really 'get away from it all' in an absolutely lovely locaton with wonderful views out over fields to the sea, very peaceful and quiet.

A car is essential to get about but there is plenty to see and do, the village of Portscatho being a short drive away with amenities to be found therein, The Plume of Feathers is well worth a visit for food and drink. Also a short drive or walk to beaches.

Nothing negative to say about this property, we love it, highly recommend a visit and will be back!

Stunning views

Review Submitted: November 23, 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010
We have just spent a week at Quayway Lodge enjoying the stunning views out to sea and the Purcuil river. The lodge has a real homely feel and is beautifully furnished to a very high standard. This is our third stay and recommend it to those seeking peace, tranquility and stunning views. It's also an ideal location for visiting nearby beaches and attractions. We just love it there.
