St. Ives Cottage Holidays in space and comfort at Porth Enys
'Porth Enys' Holiday Cottage is a very early Victorian terraced house, thoroughly modernised but full of character and retaining many original features. The Cottage is situated on a raised terrace above the main road into St Ives. The town centre, restaurants, shops, the Tate Gallery, St. Ives new swimming pool and leisure centre, and all other facilities are only a short walk away, and involve no serious hill climbing! The harbour and all St. Ives' beaches are within easy walking distance, and views all around St. Ives Bay can be had from the car parking area behind the house or by walking a few yards to the 'Malakoff'. The cottage has a very light, airy and friendly feel and visitors say it is a 'Super house in a great place'. Our return bookings prove it! During July and August our visitors are mainly family groups, but outside this period our discounts make 'Porth Enys' very attractive to smaller parties who appreciate the space, comfort, and facilities provided.

Porth Enys normally books from Saturday to Saturday. Occasionally, e.g. Christmas/New Year, changeover days may vary based upon the likely preference of visitors and our need to let full weeks wherever possible. We may consider alternatives at such times. During the main season, we will stick rigidly to Saturday changeovers and bookings of full weeks. Outside June to August, the aim is to let full weeks but 'odd' periods will be considered particularly where they exceed the normal one or two weeks. Website availability is normally amended immediately after a reservation or firm booking is accepted or confirmed respectively. It is, exceptionally, possible that the website may not be altered for up to 12 hours following a change. We do regard keeping website availability accurate and up to date as important.

Porth Enys and the accommodation:-
'Porth Enys' was built in the 1830's, is a Grade II listed building, and is very Cornish in character. It has been substantially modernised but still retains many original features. It has a very friendly and peaceful atmosphere which is much appreciated by our guests. It is very spacious, airy, and has a lounge suite you can sink into! The ground floor accommodation comprises a large lounge with widescreen TV, Freeview digibox, video and hi-fi, a separate dining room, and fully equiped kitchen. Upstairs there are five bedrooms(four with their own TV) - two double bedded rooms, one single, one twin bedded room, and a childrens room with two bunk beds at floor level. All the rooms are carpeted with the exception of the kitchen, and there is central heating throughout. There is a bathroom with a bath and electric shower over, and there is a second separate toilet.
Exterior and location:-
Porth Enys is situated on a raised pedestrian terrace some 10 feet above the main road into St. Ives. Effectively, it is built into the side of a hill, the car parking area providing views over the town and bay as it is well above the roof of the house. Whilst very attractive, it is very difficult to photograph to do justice to the position. There is parking for up to three cars, and a small, south facing, and sloping garden. In high summer the courtyard immediately behind the house is a sun trap for much of the day. A patio table and seating for four is provided. Access to the town takes only a few seconds and, whilst not flat, no serious hill-climbing is involved.
St. Ives:-
Porth Enys is central for all St. Ives' facilities. There are many art galleries, including Tate St. Ives and the Barbara Hepworth museum. There are many excellent restaurants, shops, and pubs all within easy walking distance. The harbour and all St Ives marvellous beaches are within easy reach, including Porthminster and Porthgwidden family beaches and the famous Porthmeor surfing beach. St Ives swimming pool and fitness centre are a short walk away. St Ives is also a splendid centre for walkers, artists and anglers, and base from which to explore the magnificent Cornish countryside. Land's End, The Lizard and its special coves, Flambards, Newquay and its indoor water-world are all easily reached. Alternatively, park your car, relax and let the world go by. Why not visit the St. Ives September arts and music festival or enjoy St. Ives' special Christmas / New Year.
