Notes: The large lounge has a featured stone built fireplace with log burning stove. If central heating is required between the months of May to the end of September a supplement will be payable. Colour TV, DVD, Stereo System. Comfortable two 2-seater settees and single chair. There are plenty of books to read, also books suggesting places to visit and good walks, including coastal paths – if you feel energetic!! Also, a number of games are available for your use. The property would be suitable for the elderly, but not the infirm owing to different floor levels. The property might not be suitable for children as we only have two double bedded rooms (no singles). Also, there are two ponds on the property, one small one in our kitchen garden and one large one in our adjoining paddock.

Further details for this holiday cottage rental in Creegbrawse, United Kingdom

Garden: Idyllic large south-facing garden with an abundance of flowering shrubs, providing a haven for birdlife. Why not think about visiting in the Spring when our garden is probably at it's best with camelias, magnolias, rhododendrons and azaleas in full flower. The garden has a number of benches plus sun loungers, table and chairs.

Places of Interest : The Eden Project and Heligan Gardens are 30 minutes away by car and Falmouth Maritime Museum is a short distance from the cottage. There are a number of superb gardens to visit including Trelissick, Trebah and Trengwainton to name but a few. The lovely city of Truro is just 5 miles away. If, however, you would prefer a day in the country, there are many interesting walks around Creegbrawse. For those with an interest in the history there are many reminders of two hundred years of tin and copper mining in the area, and whilst nature has kindly softened the harsh contours of past mining, there are many miles of lanes and old tramways to explore, either on foot, bike or horseback.

Active things to do: Bikes can be hired at nearby Bissoe on the Cycle Trail, which takes in the sights of old mine workings, and beautiful wooded valleys. The trail is surprisingly flat following the routes of the Redruth and Chacewater railway and the tram road to Portreath or the route to Devoran and Point. For the more energetic, take the Wheal Busy loop passing through unity woods and past Killifreth Mine, the tallest chimney in Cornwall. For those of you who enjoy walking, there are some breathtaking walks along the coastal paths. Riding stables for adults are nearby on the road to Twelveheads. However, Reen Manor Riding Stables, a 15 minute drive away, caters for adults and children. This is an excellent base for a two and a half mile ride on the golden sands of Perranporth or nearby bridleways, lanes and dunes. .

Guest Book - 1) What a great place to come for a restful holiday, great cottage, tranquil garden and friendly hosts. Thank you for making us so welcome. We would love to re-visit. Once again, thank you. Keith & Ethel, Sheffield. 2) Another lovely relaxing holiday that was blessed with great weather. Hope to be back soon. Sandy, Sue, Billy & Roberta, Portsmouth. 3) I don't think either of us have slept so well as we have in this wonderful cottage. We have been lucky with the weather and visited too many places to mention. Thank you for a lovely stay in a fantastic location! Paul & Lorraine, Sussex. 4) Lovely cottage set in an idyllic garden. Breakfast in the garden with the robin - I'm away - fantastic! Peace and quiet - slept like a log! Thanks for a good holiday. Alan and Susan, Tyldesley, Manchester.

An account of the Old Counthouse

Review Submitted: October 11, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
The Old Counthouse is every bit as idyllic as described. The cottage was very clean, comfortable, extremely well appointed and tastefully decorated. We particularly liked the paintings by local artists, so much so, we sought out the galleries to buy our own permanent souvenirs of a delightful holiday. My sister and I are interested in industrial heritage, so there was much to see and enjoy in and around Creegbrawse but it was also an excellent touring base. We could have filled our entire week just with visits to English Heritage and National Trust properties – as we are both members, we didn’t have to pay to get in at any of them. The money “saved” soon went on delicious cream teas! We made the most of the glorious weather by driving far and wide but we always looked forward to getting back to Creegbrawse to relax in the pretty garden. There was a wide choice of books, games and DVDs in the cottage if we had wanted to stay in. Similarly, although there were several pubs serving good food within a few minutes’ drive, the cottage kitchen was very well equipped when we chose to eat in. Our breakfast highlight was scrambled eggs from the Creegbrawse chickens. Liz and David could not have been kinder – they were never obtrusive but always willing to answer questions and make helpful suggestions. We would thoroughly recommend The Old Counthouse to anyone wanting a quiet, comfortable place to relax and unwind.

Wonderful getaway!

Review Submitted: September 3, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We took our two granddaughters aged 9 and 7 for a week's holiday in this wonderful secluded cottage. The features in the cottage are so right for the period and the cottage is so welcoming - beautifully furnished throughout with a modern bathroom. Although secluded, most places of interest are within reasonable driving distance as are some lovely beaches and Gardens. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the lovely gardens. Unfortunately, the weather was not particularly kind to us during our week and therefore we were unable to take full advantage of the garden amenities. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and plan to go again next year. The owners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful to us during our stay and we feel we have now made new friends.

Juwel at Creegbrawse

We found a jewel at Creegbrawse. A lovely, cosy, clean and tastefully decorated old cottage surounded by a lovely garden. We enjoyed it to have breakfast there. Returning from our trips we liked it to sit in front of the open fire. Immediately we felt at home.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful in finding some beautiful places and where we could have a good meal. Short distances to all nice and interesting places in South-Cornwall.
We will come back any time.
