Further details for this holiday cottage rental in Penpol, United Kingdom

Roses round the door? Whitewashed stone cottage? Peaceful, large well-established garden? Night sky and bird-song available? We can offer all that and more. Inspirational for painters. Quintole is located on a hillside in unspoilt farmland a few hundred yards from a creek, which runs into the River Fowey through a wooded valley. Our lovely cottage has that ‘miles from anywhere’ feel, yet is only a few minutes drive from beautiful, secluded beaches with rock pools and sand at Lantic Bay and Lantivet. Close to Fowey over the beautiful Bodinnick Ferry; Polruan and Lerryn are a short drive. Eden, Heligan and Lanhydrock are all within easy reach. Excellent riding stables are 400 yards away and there are several golf courses in the area at Lostwithiel and Carlyon Bay. Local food shopping in Lerryn and Lostwithiel is good. There are picturesque views and a network of footpaths across fields and through green lanes studded with wild flowers for easy rambling straight from the

Thankyou, we had a lovely week despite the wet weather. The children will have lovely memories of a good family holiday...I would love to visit the cottage again one day. Many Thanks. (SW)
We have just arrived home after a super week! Quintole is a fabulous cottage - so very comfortable.(JS)
Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home in Cornwall. A great time was had by all and we very much enjoyed the horse riding, Polperro, Tintagel, Port Isaac and the Eden Project. We fell in love with Cornwall, it truly is a gem. (IT)
Thanks again for the cottage. We v much liked being there, especially the walking, which we thought was outstanding. (BM)

Quintole Cottage

sanddancer Blyth, Northumberland
Review Submitted: August 18, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This cottage is very pretty and is in a very rural location.
(We were a bit surprised to find some cardboard rubbish outside the house when we arrived but it was all to do with the recycling scheme which takes some getting used to. However it would have been a little better if this had been put somewhere else perhaps.)
It is a very well equipped and spacious cottage , there was plenty of room for the whole family with a large dining room and lounge-a bonus was the piano which we used ( some music was provided!) as well as the kitchen.
The owner contacted us (kindly) on our 2nd night to make sure we had found everything or if there were any difficulties.
The garden is huge and catches the evening sun and full use can be made of the plentiful garden equipment and BBQ if the weather is good. The front garden patio is lovely though there were a lot of wasps in the laurel bush. We spent mornings in the sun there entertained by lots of butterflies, a friendly robin and flocks of geese making their way back and forward - a bit noisy at 7 in the morning !
The kitchen had everything one requires for a holiday, even flasks. The dishwasher and washing machine a huge bonus.
Locally, Lerryn is a pretty village where the well equipped Post Office and shop provides for everyday needs as well as teas and delicious local ice cream and pasties. There is a pub with restaurant here too. Lovely walks and somewhere to watch the world go by.
The ferry at Bodinnick is a good shortcut to Fowey and saves time on the roads its only £2.70. Fowey is great for shopping for nautical clothing and gifts and has lovely galleries. (We liked the water taxi, and the ferry trip to Mevagissy!)
Because of the house location we did not eat out much but did not mind too much as we used the BBQ a couple of times and because the kitchen is so well equipped were able to cook without any difficulties.
Bedrooms were clean and comfortable, the double is especially roomy.
All in all if one is looking for a quiet spot to while away the time and visit some glorious countryside and you don't mind driving narrow lanes, enjoy lovely surroundings and a home from home then this is the place for you.
Other recommended places to visit :- Lanhydrock house (National Trust) Wenford - Bodmin steam train, Polperro,Restormel castle at nearby Lostwithiel ( also has an excellent Chinese Take away)

A real hideaway

Review Submitted: June 12, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
What a find.

My screaming girls couldn't believe their luck as they opened the gate. Massive garden, country lanes, sheep in the fields, rayburn to cook their Dad home made scones (he loves his clotted cream!). Everything you could ever need for a week away from 'the city' is here. Lovely warm atmosphere (real fire) combined with secluded location (mobile phones do not work so yes it is cut off!) and all within 10 minutes of amazing beaches and within 30 minutes of the Eden project and amazing sites such as Luxulyan Valley. Book now before someone else discovers.
