Five delightful Cornish cottages on the edge of Bodmin Moor yet ideally located to reach any part of Cornwall. On the doorstep is uninterrupted countryside views, officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and yet close to the coast - best of both worlds! Wild horses, sheep and cattle are your neighbours and the odd 'neigh' from the stables your only disturbance! Three of the cottages retain many of their original features, such as the traditional Cornish stone walls and exposed beams. Delphy and Barn Cottage, whilst newly built maintain character with the benefits of modern design. Recently under new management, all the cottages have gone through a period of refurbishment so whilst being full of character, they are also full of comfort! Situated on a former working farm and set in 5 acres of private land, guests are welcome to explore the property as they wish.

Further details for this holiday cottage rental in St Breward, United Kingdom

Things To Do: Right next door to your cottage, there are riding stables which cater for all abilities. Bodmin Moor is also fantastic for walking and hiking, with Rough Tor and Brown Willy (the two highest points in Cornwall) viewable from your cottage. The Camel Trail also runs through Bodmin Moor which is great for cycling enthusiasts. Some of the best beaches in England are a 25 minute drive away. The picturesque fishing village of Padstow is a short ferry ride away from Rock. There are 9 golf courses within striking distance. The A30 allows easy access to south Cornwall and the Eden Project is just a 20 minute drive away.

Dining Out: One of Cornwall's most closely guarded secrets are it's 'Olde Worlde' pubs which are tucked away in remote villages. We have done a little research and we can offer a good selection of traditional Cornish pubs to visit, all of which welcome children. A sample selection is: The Old Inn in St Breward (1/2 mile away) - 11th Century pub with fantastic 'Les Routiers' food and open fires / The Old Inn in Blisland (CAMRA Pub of the Year) is just 2 miles away and has a great family room and cheap basket food / The St Kew Inn / The St Mabyn Inn / The Cornish Arms at Pendogget / The Maltsters Arms (Cornish Pub of the Year). For the more special occasion, you may wish to book a table at Rick Stein's Cafe in Padstow. We have many more suggestions .....

We took over Hallagenna Farmhouse and its cottages in spring 2007, and since then we have made many improvements. The hard work has already been rewarded with some positive comments received from happy guests.

Simply the best

The Yorkshire Peaks Leven, East Yorkshire
Review Submitted: September 1, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This property is set in the most beautiful surroundings of Bodmin Moor. To open the living room curtains on a morning and see wild horses, cows and sheep gives you the most amazing feeling ever. Ladydown cottage is exactly as described. You couldn't want for more. Its fully equipped and has a great layout. The owners are a really friendly couple who couldn't do enough for you.Our kids enjoyed counting the rabbits in a morning, petting the ponies and chasing the chickens. The courtyard provided a safe area for them.
The local shop in St Breward has just about everything you could want and I wholly recommend the fresh Cornish Pasties they sell. I ate a lot during my stay and these where by far the best!
The Old Inn and Restaurant at St Breward has got to be the best pub I've ever eaten in. If your appetite has never been satisfied before then I challenge you to almost any meal here and all at a very good price. There is a recommendation for a pub in Blisland which unfortunately I don't agree with!
Straight across the road from the cottage are Hallegenna stables. They took my 2 children out twice for a ride across the moor and Sarah was absolutely fantastic with them. The price is spot on.
The roads around here are great fun as most of them are single track and windy. Even the larger roads have an element of fun about them!!
The journey to Newquay took us about 30 mins on average although I'm sure if in a hurry the larger roads would get you there quicker. The beaches here are clean, spacious and well patrolled by life guards, although if you're not body boarding and in a wet suit you do feel a little out of place!
We took the kids to Dairyland Farm near Newquay which was highly entertaining for them. Holywell Park was absolutely fantastic but don't expect it to be cheap just because there's no entry fee...its not, we spent half our budget here!!!
Lands End took about and hour and a half but was well worth it. We terrified our 5 year old in the Dr Who exhibition, had our picture taken at the famous sign post and ate a freshly made Cornish Pasty - beware, not much meat!! We were lucky to have a visit from the Air Ambulance which delighted the kids.
We visited Mousehole on the way back - not much there but the kids love the story of old Tom and the cat. Then headed for Marazion to see St Michaels Mount. We would have loved to have walked the causeway but unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse!!
WE FULLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE!!!!

Review Submitted: November 14, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
What a gorgeous place to 'get away from it all' and be amongst nature and surrounded by astounding views and rolling countryside. The accommodation had everything you could ask for and the area provides a picture postcard back drop for an altogether fantastic experience. Thank you very much we will definitely be back and pass your details on to all of our friends. Lesley S (London)
