Photos and Description of this St Breward holiday cottage 2 bedrooms * sleeps 4 * 1 bathroom * fully equipped kitchen

Five delightful Cornish cottages on the edge of Bodmin Moor yet ideally located to reach any part of Cornwall. On the doorstep is uninterrupted countryside views, officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and yet close to the coast - best of both worlds! Wild horses, sheep and cattle are your neighbours and the odd 'neigh' from the stables your only disturbance! Three of the cottages retain many of their original features, such as the traditional Cornish stone walls and exposed beams. Delphy and Barn Cottage, whilst newly built maintain character with the benefits of modern design. Recently under new management, all the cottages have gone through a period of refurbishment so whilst being full of character, they are also full of comfort! Situated on a former working farm and set in 5 acres of private land, guests are welcome to explore the property as they wish.

Details for Old Brock Cottage 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4, 1 Bathroom

This beautiful and authentic 17th Century former farm worker's cottage is set in open moorland (a designated Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty). Dating back to 1673, the cottage retains many of its original features, such as traditional Cornish stone walls and exposed beams. This cottage offers 'reverse' accommodation, meaning that the living and dining area is located on the first floor, so that you can enjoy the lovely views of Bodmin Moor from windows facing both north and south. TV/Video/Freeview & DVD player provided. There is a log burner to keep you warm on the winter nights, and a basket of logs are provided. On the ground floor, there is the fully fitted kitchen with all mod cons including a dishwasher, a bathroom with shower, and two bedrooms: one double and a second bedroom with bunk beds and a single bed, which is capable of sleeping three. The cottage also has a large private patio, with garden furniture and stone-built barbecue for those meals al fresco.

Further details for this holiday cottage rental in St Breward, United Kingdom

Things To Do: Right next door to your cottage, there are riding stables which cater for all abilities. Bodmin Moor is also fantastic for walking and hiking, with Rough Tor and Brown Willy (the two highest points in Cornwall) viewable from your cottage. The Camel Trail also runs through Bodmin Moor which is great for cycling enthusiasts. Some of the best beaches in England are a 25 minute drive away. The picturesque fishing village of Padstow is a short ferry ride away from Rock. There are 9 golf courses within striking distance. The A30 allows easy access to south Cornwall and the Eden Project is just a 20 minute drive away.

Dining Out: One of Cornwall's most closely guarded secrets are it's 'Olde Worlde' pubs which are tucked away in remote villages. We have done a little research and we can offer a good selection of traditional Cornish pubs to visit, all of which welcome children. A sample selection is: The Old Inn in St Breward (1/2 mile away) - 11th Century pub with fantastic 'Les Routiers' food and open fires / The Old Inn in Blisland (CAMRA Pub of the Year) is just 2 miles away and has a great family room and cheap basket food / The St Kew Inn / The St Mabyn Inn / The Cornish Arms at Pendogget / The Maltsters Arms (Cornish Pub of the Year). For the more special occasion, you may wish to book a table at Rick Stein's Cafe in Padstow. We have many more suggestions .....

We took over Hallagenna Farmhouse and its cottages in spring 2007, and since then we have made many improvements. The hard work has already been rewarded with some positive comments received from happy guests.

A quaint cottage in a picturesque setting

We had a great five days at Old Brock Cottage. The setting is fantastic and, while the small country lanes were sometimes challenging it was well located for easy access to Bodmin, Wadebridge and the coastal towns.
An unusual set up with the bedrooms downstairs but it seemed to work well. The cottage was clean and tidy and well kitted out. Could perhaps do with a floor mat in the bathroom especially with children but other than that it had everything we needed.
The owners were very friendly and on hand should we have needed them.
A ride out to Padstow on the Camel Trail was great and highly recommended (we used Bridge Cycle Hire right at the end of the trail) - really lovely town to walk around and people watch!
Polzeath beach and Harlyn Bay have to be the best beaches we have seen for a long time and would recommend Constantine Surf School if you want lessons.
Horseriding at the stables over the road also excellent.
Would recommend to friends.

We had two enjoyable weeks on our family holiday!

Review Submitted: July 30, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We have been very warmly welcomend with a cornish cream tea and fresh flowers in the living room. We received a full information package about what to do in the area. Everything was clean and with love maintained and decorated. The house was very well equipped in kitchen (tools, etc.), in the livingroom (familygames for all ages, books, dvds) and has a washingmashine with dryer. We enjoyed the walks and horse riding on the moor, just around the corner. There is a small river about 2 min. drive or 15 min. walk where you can perfectly spent a sunny day out with kids all age instead of going to the beach, just bring a bodyboard and a picnic. The landscape is beautiful. It is about 25 min. drive to either coast. You do need a car to get around, but there is much more to see and do than one could do in two weeks. Very friendly and helpfull owners. We allready did recommend this property to our friends and family.
