Grange End Cottage was converted from a 19th Century barn by a local craftsman and is a charming 4 star cottage has been meticulously & sympathetically renovated with thick stone walls, large inglenook fireplace, oak beams and many original features. Bridgelands Cottage is an 18th century luxury Lakeland cottage with log fire, oaks beams. Located away from roads in a lovely peaceful setting, yet only a minute's walk to the centre of Cark-in-Cartmel village which is situated in the beautiful Cartmel valley. Cartmel village is only 2 minutes drive north and lake Windermere just a 10 minute drive.

The bedrooms sleep up to 6 people. There is a romantic 4-poster bedroom, a twin bedded room overlooking the garden & fields and a 3rd bedroom with full sized bunk beds, a few children’s toys, a stair gate and full size travel cot. Good quality, luxurious bed linen and towels are provided for up to 6 people free of charge. The modern bathroom is equipped with bath, basin, toilet, and electric shower. Outside, to the rear, the cottage has its own lovely, private garden overlooking open fields, a patio area, garden furniture, and barbecue. The cottage also has its own garage for the sole use of guests. The kitchen has a new double oven with a halogen/ceramic hob, a new good sized fridge/freezer, automatic washing machine, dishwasher, tumble drier, microwave and everything you’d expect to have in your own luxury cottage and maybe a bit more too. Gas Central heating. Gas, electric, bed linen and towels are all include.

Our separate & individual, luxury cottages are situated in a secluded, peaceful position away from roads up a cobbled lane near the heart of the unspoilt Lakeland village of Cark-in-Cartmel. There are 2 country pubs within a 2 minute walk & Cartmel village is only 2 minutes drive north. The medieval village of Cartmel is the oldest & most picturesque village in South Lakeland and is home to 4 great village pubs, all serving good food, a Michelin starred restaurant (L'Enclume) & a fantastic, stylish brassiere & cocktail bar (Rogan & Company). The ancient village square where 2 of the pubs are located is a great place to sit and watch the world go by before heading back to the tranquillity of your cottage. Grange-Over-Sands and Lake Windermere are just 10 minutes away by car. Bowness-on-Windermere, Kendal & Ulverston are all within 30 minutes drive. Cartmel Valley is a great place to enjoy a peaceful holiday and still be within easy reach of many of the Lake Districts top attractions.

Great location, Hadrian's wall, Windemere Lake, country smells coming in from the open window, organic farm, beaches and more. Wow... we enjoyed so much ! The cottage is equipped with all the necessities, oven, laundry, bedding.

Morning tea in the garden

We had a very sweet stay in this well-equipped cottage, just out of the bustle of the Lake District but with easy access. The cottage description is accurate; everything is in good working order and well-kept. It is the end cottage of a row, with another separate cottage beyond it, then a gate with enormous horses hanging their heads over for a scratch. Another family was in Caree Cottage adjoining Grange End; the walls are thick and no noise seeped over, even with small children in the other party. Neighbors we encountered were pleasant and friendly. The town shop and post office are just across the street from the driveway into the parking court area (although we read that this post office will be among the closures this summer, alas). For more serious supplies, Grange-over-Sands is a short drive and has a couple of bigger stores, a terrific butcher, and a fruit/veg shop. (It is also a pleasant town for a stroll, with a park and a promenade over the sands.)

The back garden is a treasure, bowered with roses and a wonderful place for morning tea. We were visited by the neighborhood cats, who sunned while we sipped. This is a bric-a-brack and potpourri cottage; our history buff was intrigued by the old tools on the walls, and our allergy sufferers benefited from placing the potpourri bowls in the back anteroom. The owner, Simon, provided complete and timely information, and a list of good recommendations for places to eat and go in the area. We could have managed well with the instructions regarding the cottage in the binder (as we have encountered in our many other property rentals) rather than on the walls. The whiskey dispenser in the kitchen is a hoot and made us rather wish we were whiskey appreciators.

In the area, we had a terrific visit to Holker Hall, and the fish and chips at the Flounder in Flookburgh were the best we had this trip. There is easy access to the coast walk from the cottage.

I would return to this cottage (and wish we could have stayed longer), and recommend it to others who enjoy a stay out of the tourist crush but close enough to partake of the pleasures when desired.

This very nice and cozy cottage is one of the best I have been in the UK. Very clean and well maintained. The owner provide an excellence customer service. Very good communications. We will come again in the near future.
Only one car park available, but you can park your other car at near parking lot.
