Originally the wool store for the small hamlet of Laithes, Petteril View is a traditional detached cottage which has been extended to provide very comfortable accommodation for 8 people. Situated 4 miles from Penrith and just over 1 mile from the M6. Peteril View is a quiet retreat with easy access to Lake Ullswater, Keswick, the Eden Valey and the tranquil Caldbeck Fels. Nearby in Greystoke there is an outdoor swimming pool, an activity centre with quad bikes, archery, fishing, shooting and falconry. Eden Ostrich World at Langwathby and the Reghed Centre is nearby with its variety of shops, exhibitions, local produce, big screen cinema and children's play area. The nearest pub is approx 1 mile. Next door to the cottage is a small park with BBQ area, swings and a river with stepping stones. There are some very good restaurants within short drive, the Highland Drove in Great sulked serves excellent food at reasonable prices, and Sharrow Bay on Ullswater, reputedly the best in Cumbria

Located in a small hamlet, with the river Petteril running through,approx 4 miles north of Penrith and 7 miles from Lake Ullswater. Nearby are the villages of Greystoke with it's Castle, Blencowe and Newton Reigny. Reghed (one of the largest grass covered buildings in England) with its big screen cinema and shops is about 3 miles west. Center Parcs, Whinfell Forest is a few miles south of Penrith and day passes are available from the Penrith tourist Board. GoApe is located near Keswick which is about 9 miles away along with the North face cycle trail.

Beautiful cottage, everthing there you would need

4 Adults and 4 children - had a fantastic time, cottage is beautiful and clean. Bedrooms all decent sizes and lounge with real fire is fantastic. Only short distance to Penrith and the Sun Inn pub serves lovely food and nothing is too much trouble for them. The playpark and river is only about 20 steps away from garden and not an issue at all. Would recommmend to all and will be staying again. - Only thing to remember to take is loo rolls as not provided!

Reasonable property but too far from lake district

Reasonable property, well maintained but too far from the main Lake District towns. The river at the bottom of the garden is not connected to the property at all and as it is made out to be on the website. In fact there is a complete house/land between this property and the River and the garden at the bottom of which the river lies does not belong to this house and is infact a public garden.
Owner's Response: The property is located about 4 miles north of Penrith & approx 9 miles to Keswick.
There is a childrens playpark right next to the property with a public garden & river with stepping stones.
The back garden of the cottage backs directly onto the public garden & also to the side. Access is from the park entrance which is located a few feet from the side of the Cottage.

Beautiful yet very functional cottage

We have just returned from a long weekend in this lovely cottage in Laithes. Having stayed in many 'weekend retreats' I can honestly say this is definitely amoungst the best! It is nicely decorated, has every facility you need and is ideally located to explore the lakes yet just off the motorway.
The owner has been very helpful and most accomodating and we would recommend this cottage to anyone!

We really enjoyed staying at this property it catered for all of our party - we were a party of 8 - 4 Adults, 2 Teenagers and 2 younger children. The property was accurately described, clean, well maintained, every kitchen utensil you would ever need, everything about this cottage was fantastic. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and hopefully will return ourselves. Such a nice place to stay............
