The Old Granary at Owlacombe Mill enjoys an excellent location, not far from the town of Great Torrington, and provides a very high standard of accommodation in a delightful setting. Situated in a secluded, wooded valley through which a stream runs. The Cottage, situated at the south-west end of the main house, has its own entrance and garden. It overlooks open pasture and deciduous woodland. Not simply a holiday cottage, it has been furnished and equipped to suit those who want a bolt hole. A place to recharge their batteries, contemplate the future or simply a tranquil base from which to explore further afield. You are welcome to stay for any number of nights although the minimum charge is for 3 nights.

The Old Granary is situated in northwest Devon near Winkleigh on the outskirts of a small hamlet called Roborough. Central location. All of Devon and Cornwall is an easy day trip by car.

  • A minimum payment of 3 nights is required. Nightly rates are £70. No part week bookings during July/August/September. Please contact us for Christmas rates 2008. We require a 20% deposit at time of booking, the outstanding amount is due not later than 6 weeks before arrival. If booking is made within 6 weeks of the commencement of the holiday the full amount should be paid. All rates include everything i.e. linen, towels and a welcome pack. Electricity is by metered supply.

Notes: The en suite bathroom has a large shower enclosure but not a tub. The cottage is only suitable for one or two adults. However, there is overflow accommodation available in the main house that consists of a large double guest bedroom and a large en suite with bathtub, walk in shower cubical, basin and WC - This would be at a cost of £70.00 per night for the room. Apart from the wood burning stove there is central heating for the whole property. Telephone is available for occasional use in the main house and the house telephone number may be given to people who may wish to contact guest/s - mobiles will not work here, as we are in a hollow, with trees surrounding.

THINGS TO DO........: There are a huge variety of things to do, whatever the weather, all within easy driving distance. The Eden Project in Cornwall is only 90 minutes away. There are castles, cathedrals, country houses, some famous (15 minutes from Rosemoor) and not so famous gardens. Both Dartmoor and Exmoor and all they offer are within easy reach. Golf, fishing and even flying enthusiasts can be catered for. There are two stables for hire at the property, please ask for prices on hiring these. There are walks, long and short, all over the place including the famous Tarka Trail. There is also cycling, bikes can be hired . Some breathtaking North Devon coastal walks and beaches, antiques to find..........

...OR NOT: Our visitors are neither required nor expected to go out. You can stay in bed all day, loll around in the bathrobes provided. Sit in the garden to read or snooze, play music, huddle around the fire with hot toddies....whatever. So long as signs of life are occasionally observed nobody will come knocking, nobody will disturb you. Your privacy is respected, complete discretion is observed and anonymity is guaranteed if required.

ODDS & ENDS: We can't do anything about the weather but we can do a lot of other things so please do not hesitate to ask. For a special occasion we can organise deliveries of flowers/chocolates or anything deliverable.Short break, long break, mid-week break,weekend break - we will try to make your stay exceptional. We want your stay to be what you want it to be. Sorry, no pets allowed and no smoking in the cottage.

Wonderful peaceful cottage away from it all, located by a running stream with fields and woods surrounding.

A very warm welcome awaits you here at this small, but romantic cottage. Beautifully converted from a granary with all you need for a "get away from it all" holiday.
The log fire in the evening was wonderful.

Excellent for walkers, coastal visits and visiting a number of National Trust properties in the area. Excellent food & ales to be found too local pub in neighbouring village.

What a beautiful cosy place to stay

Thank you for a lovely warm welcome. The setting is beautiful, and the cottage cosy, comfortable and well appointed. Great to be able to wake up and look out over the green rolling valley!

The location, being central, is excellent for getting around to see Devon and Cornwall on day trips, while it's far enough north to cut 2 hours off my journey to and 2 hours off back compared with staying in Cornwall.

The cream tea on arrival was also lovely, and how handy that the owner also runs the village mobile shop so I was able to buy essentials without heading out again!
