The Old Barn is a beautiful holiday cottage, converted from an old cow byre and situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Downstairs is a large farmhouse kitchen with a washing machine, dishwasher and microwave which links to a large living area with extremely comfortable furnishings, wood burning stove, TV, DVD and video. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, both en-suite. The first bedroom has a cast iron double bed, the second bedroom has a king-size bed which can be converted in to two singles if required. Let includes all electricity and linen. If you fancy a night off or dinner on arrival, we will make a casserole with organic ingredients 8.50 per person with a bottle of wine between two.

The Old Barn is on an organic farm in the magical Kingcombe Valley amid 600 acres of the Dorset Wildlife Trust's Kingcombe Meadows which are world renowned for the variety of flora and fauna. The Wessex Ridgeway and the Jubilee Trail cross the farm and there are many long and short walks to try without the need of a car. The cottage is six miles from the sea and the Jurassic coastline. An excellent base for those wishing to explore Thomas Hardy country. It is also only half an hours drive to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage HQ; so an excellent base for anyone wishing to join in on any of activities there.

Notes: The Kingsize bedroom has a kingsize bed which can be converted in to two singles if required. One of the sofas in the living room can be converted in to a double bed if required at an extra cost of £40.00 per week. For the first morning of your stay - or every day - we can provide locally produced and organic ingredients for your breakfast. Eggs from our own hens, bacon and sausages produced in our valley, organic tomatoes and mushrooms. We include a small homemade loaf made with organic flour, organic Seville marmalade and butter tea and coffee. You can pre-order this when you book, or simply give us a day's notice and we will give you the basket the night before for you to cook in the morning. £7.00 per person. If you fancy a night off or dinner on arrival, we will be happy to cook a casserole made with organic ingredients (during the autumn and winter months) with a bottle of wine between two. £8.50 per person.

The farm: The farm is a site of special scientific interest and produces organic beef, lamb and mutton, which are for sale during your stay (subject to availability).

Walks Etc: The Wessex Ridgeway and the Jubilee Trail cross the farm and there are many long and short walks to try without the need of a car. The cottage is six miles from the sea and there is fishing in the River Hooke, which makes up one of the farm's borders.

River Cottage HQ: We are only half an hours drive away from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage HQ.
