It is centrally located for the whole of the Norfolk Broads where you can enjoy boating, fishing, nature trails and glorious scenery. The nearby historic cathedral city of Norwich has an interesting castle, alley-ways to explore, museums, theatres, restaurants, nightlife and great shopping. Less than 10 miles away are the beautiful sandy beaches of the Norfolk Coastline where with so many miles of sand a secluded spot can always be found! At one of these spots In Winter you can see the baby seals being born on the beach.

There are also tearooms, a delicatessens and a cafe serving breakfast if you prefer not to cook! Nearby there is use of a small private staithe for fishing or for launching a small dinghy or canoe. At the marina nearby there is a small leisure centre with swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna (payable locally) and day-boat hire is also available.

Further details for this holiday cottage rental in Norfolk, United Kingdom

What can I do here?: The three main attractions are the Norfolk Broads (rivers and lakes) with rural countryside, the historic cathedral city of Norwich and the wonderful sandy Norfolk Coastline including the bustling seaside resorts of Cromer and Great Yarmouth. All this is less than 30 minutes drive from the cottage.

What are the Norfolk Broads?: The Norfolk Broads are a unique combination of slow meandering rivers with beautiful lakes (locally known as Broads). The river banks include thatched cottages with immaculate lawns (and gardens), reed beds (used for roof thatching) and many pretty staithes (a local word for a place to moor your boat). The best way to enjoy this wonderful National Park is either on-foot or by boat. Boats can be either hired (by the hour or day) or take an organised trip - Norfolk boats are either motor cruisers or traditional wooden sailing yachts.

Other Activities: boating, beaches, gardens, craft shops, tea rooms, leisure centre

Our long weekend at Seymour Cottage

maureenmuch London
Review Submitted: September 9, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We've just returned from a three night stay at this delightful cottage which we choose at very short notice and at random from this website. The description given by the owners is 100% accurate and the location is absolutely lovely, directly across the village road to the river, which is beautiful.

The cottage is very cosy, very well maintained, and the owners have thought of everything for the occupiers comfort. The beds are clean, comfortable and the bedding is new and fresh. All we took with us were towels. Our stay was early September and one night it was very chilly when we arrived back from a restaurant but we put the living room fire on and the cottage took no time to warm.

We have no hesitation at all in recommending this cottage and would hope to rebook for at least a week in future as three days is not enough to enjoy the lovely area.

The owners left a comprehensive list of restaurants etc. in the village and surrounding areas and all we tried were excellent, especially the fish of the day at the Staith n Willow restaurant.

We hired a boat from Wroxham, very near, and had couple of enjoyable hours on the river; took ourselves off to shire horse sanctuary near Cromer and adopted a splendid animal called Bluebell, with whom we instantly fell in love.

We left on Monday morning, had coffee in the village, sat outside the Swan pub watching the boats and to our surprise and pleasure were able to watch an otter going about its normal Monday morning business - lovely!

Perhaps a blessing (or not) but O2 mobile phone reception in the village was not good, a bit hit and miss, which we didn't mind but others might find it a nuisance.

Seymour Cottage

Purely by chance found this cottage on the website and it was available for the dates we needed. Received good communication from the owner before our stay and on arrival the property was well maintained and lovely and clean. The village is small but has everything you need. Two nice pubs on the river, a small general store and a couple of shops selling local produce, cream teas etc.
The Southern Comfort mississippi river boat which leaves from the end of the village is well worth going on.
Although everything is quite close to the cottage it is still quiet. We would definetly go to this cottage again. Highly reccomended.

Seymour Cottage, Horning, Norfolk

Bevlynn Nottingham
Review Submitted: August 17, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
This cottage was perfect for our needs...just two adults...as we stayed for 2 weeks and therefore cooked and ate in quite frequently; it was homely, comfortable, clean and well equipped. Could see it being a bit crowded with any more people, for that length of stay.

The description is pretty accurate, although the front garden is really the parking space with a large boat shed directly across the road. You can just see the river from the upstairs front bedroom. The patio area from the back bedroom is tiny, too small for more than 2 people to sit out and eat comfortably, and faces a high planted bank. But it's a great suntrap!

Council refuse collection seems to be fortnightly, which meant we accumulated bin bags of rubbish outside near the road, annoyingly added to by visiting boating holidaymakers during the night! We eventually removed the bags ourselves and took them to the nearest recycling facility outside Coltishall.

We were new to the Broads area and took advantage of river trips, walks, visitor centres and attractions, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed, and which made us want to return to see more. You definitely need a car. Excellent Park and Ride facility for visiting Norwich, which is a lovely city. Ruth had provided lots of information about things to do and see in the area and we found this very helpful. We ate out at the 2 local pubs, which were fine, and enjoyed a very good meal at the Staithe 'n' Willow restaurant in the village.

We would highly recommend this property as we would be perfectly happy to return ourselves at some time.

We loved it!

We have stayed at Seymour Cottage on more than one occasion now and we absolutely love it! The location is ideal for exploring the Norfolk Broads and is only 10-15 mins drive away from Norwich. There is also a frequent train service which runs from Wroxham (only a mile away). The cottage is very clean and cosy and has everything you need. There is a really good guide provided by the owners which gives some helpful advice on good restaurants, places of interest and attractions etc. There are 2 pubs in the village and one is almost opposite the cottage, no walking distance at all! We would definitely recommend this cottage and will be returning again the in the future!
