Recently renovated - all modern comforts include full central heating and a wood-burning stove, washer/dryer and dishwasher. Ground floor: living room, dining room, and kitchenette. First floor: double bedroom, new bathroom - with over-bath shower. Top floor: attic room with 2 single beds. No door!! The cottage is in the delightful old market town of Castle Cary - interesting shops, restaurants and pubs, plus easy access to unspoilt countryside. Small sunny paved garden. On-street parking. The cottage is in the small, pretty market town of Castle Cary in South Somerset. It is ideally placed for touring this fascinating region, which is full of historic houses and sites and famous gardens. Longleat (house, theme and safari park) Stourhead gardens, Wells Cathedral, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves are all within easy reach, while Bath, Stonehenge and the sea are just over an hour's drive away. Our visitors often comment on how much there is to do and see in the area and we get lots of repeat bookings. Castle Cary town has a tiny museum and numerous interesting shops where you can get food and necessities and also gifts, books, clothes and antiques. Behind the cottage is the site of the original castle - long gone - but offering a hilly walk with great views. In the other direction is a downhill walk across fields to the owners' house where fresh free-range eggs can be purchased (foxes permitting!)

The garden is small and sunny, most of it is paved but there is a flowerbed at the end. The bathroom has recently been renovated and has a new white suite. The bath has an over bath shower. There is a washer dryer in the cupboard. We do not normally accept children under the age of 5 because the stairs are very steep. The cottage is a short stroll to several pubs (with food) and restaurants. |
From our guest book
'What a charming cottage - even more impressive than the pictures on the website....and we were simply fascinated by the well!' 'Fantastic cottage with everything we needed' 'Incredibly beautiful house that we absolutely loved! The interior design is excellent and totally compliments the stone floors and wooden doors etc...... The little birds in the garden are as friendly as the people in Castle Cary and the well is nothing short of genius! Its an absolutely brilliant place to stay - we loved it so much we'll definitely come again - but for the whole summer!' 'Fantastically situated to tour Somerset' 'Lovely cottage not nearly as tiny as I was expecting. Really nice welcoming touch - milk, tea and fresh flowers. ' 'We have discovered the secret! After years of hacking down the A303 to Cornwall we now realise what a beautiful area we have missed, lovely towns and villages, friendly people and a gem of a cottage. We will return!'
