Ravenswood Cottage is situated in an idyllic, quiet, Somerset village. With stunning, panoramic views of the Mendips and cows and deer in the fields, it is the ideal place to relax and unwind. The garden has swings, badminton and a football net to keep the family entertained. Totally secure and private with an electric gate at the entrance.

The cottage has a vaulted ceiling with original beams, is bright and spacious. There is a lovely log burner in the lounge.

Perfect for ramblers, but equally as attractive for the more eclectic tourist, with the Cathedral City of Wells, the mythical town of Glastonbury and the stunning gorge of Cheddar, all within a short car journey.

For beach worshippers, Berrow, with its' inviting sand dunes and shipwreck is only ten miles away. The Somerset lowlands are on the doorstep

For a more active holiday there is rock climbing, gliding, caving, golfing, clay pigeon shooting and sailing to be had.

Local pubs, with their home cooked food and real ales.

A natural haven for wildlife and an area of incredible, natural beauty, this part of Somerset has a natural charm all of its own.

Cheddar Gorge and caves, along with the caves at Wookey Hole, are spectacular and not to be missed.

With a working flour mill just 'down the road' and the famous Wilkins Cider Farm open for visitors to sit and chat with the locals, you will find the welcome very warm.

The climate in Somerset in temperate.

Historic Wells with its' Cathedral and Abbey, along with Glastonbury, its' festival and Tor are only a short drive away.

The village of Wedmore is famous for its links with Alfred the Great. He had his holiday home there and it is in the beautiful village church that in 878 Alfred and the Danish leader Guthrum signed the 'Peace of Wedmore'

With its' designer shops, cafes and restaurants, it is a very attractive village.

There is always something going on, whether it be the real ale festival in September, the annual Opera performance or plays.

    Clay pigeon shooting is the art of shooting at special flying targets, known as clay pigeons or clay targets, with a shotgun.

    Alan (our instructor) is a fully qualified BASC professional, with over 30 years experinece and can provide expert tuition. Whether you are 8 or 80, seasoned enthusiasts or complete novices, you are assured of an enjoyable and memorable experience in a completely safe environment within our grounds.

    You will receive an in-depth introduction to your gun and approximately an hours professional lesson. We can provide guns, cartridges and protection.

    Box Farm shooting provides a relaxed and friendly environment for both beginners and accomplished shots to enjoy whilst receiving tuition designed with the individual in mind.

    Costs are approximately £25 per person (min. 4 people), including all clays, protection etc.

GYM AND INDOOR PLAYROOM: We now have a fully equipped gym and an indoor play area for the children.

Fishing, sailing, rock climbing, caving, golfing, gliding, horse riding and many other activities are on the doorstep.

Please note that bathroom is off of double bedroom.

Extras: A welcome pack of local produce is waiting for you on arrival.

We can arrange for a car to collect you from the local train station and provide a service for you if you want to enjoy an evening out (for a small fee)

Well behaved dogs are welcome, but not allowed on furniture in cottage

IN-DOOR PLAY AREA AND GYM: We have a large indoor play area with a small snooker table, table football, games etc. Warm and dry area for the kids to escape to for a bit of time on their own. We also have a wonderful, original train carriage for you to enjoy.

Idylic Retreat

An understated gem in a excellent location for touring.
Owners are unobtrusive yet attentive and very friendly.
Property spacious and decorated to a high standard with extensive gardens and recreational areas for keeping the younger ones happy.
Much preferred the surrounding areas to Cornwall and will definitely be back.

Cosy spot in the countryside

We spent one week at Ravenswood Cottage which is excellent for travelling with children. Spacious rooms with perfect electrical lightening which makes reading easy at every time of the day. Comfortable beds with luxury mattresses and bedlinen. Everything was so crips and clean that you felt home at once.
Wedmore is 5 min away with a huge variety of lovely shops. We loved the newly openend "Pumpkin Deli" which serves excellent food.
Contact with the cottage's owner was very nice, we would love to come back.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Perfect

Our family of 2 adults and 2 children stayed at this cottage in October 2010 and it was the ideal place to spend 4 or 5 days away from London. The cottage was beautifully appointed - very true to the photos on the website (it did everything it said on the tin!), wonderfully clean and in excellent working order. The freshly-baked bread, local cheese and jam on arrival was delicious! We had wonderful days out at the local attractions, evenings out the local pubs and just a lovely time relaxing and taking it easy enjoying the beautiful surroundings. We would love to come back to rent Ravenswood cottage again, and also to invite other family members to stay at their larger cottage as well. Thank you Eve and Vince.

The perfect place

In june 2010 we (2 adults and a 2 year old child) spend 1 week in Ravenswood cottage. It was the perfect place for us. The cottage is situated in a beautiful rural landscape with great views. Verry quiet and romantic, but also a very good base to explore the beautiful Mendip Hills and tourist attractions like Cheddar, Wookey Hole, Wells and Glastonbury.

The cottage itself is very nice, well equipped, spacious and very comfortable. The basked with the homemade bread and other basic stuff on arrival was a very big and nice surprise. Thank you Eve and Vince. We highly recommend this property for people with young childeren. Our son played for hours in the big garden and loved to watch the farmers working in the field behind Box Farm.

A somerset Idyll

My family and I stayed in all 3 cottages at Box Farm through September, and each one was just purrrfect. Very tastefully renovated, with comfortable, practical furniture, complete with gorgeous interior knick-knacks, especially the beautiful candle-sticks! Vince couldn't have been more helpful with anything we needed, making it a great stay. Somerset is gorgeous with plenty to do and see. The weather was great too, and the local field of cows and calves, made it the most perfect location for our children, aged 9 and 11. We highly recommend this property and location. Tks again to Eve and Vince.
