Dartmouth holiday house: DARTMOUTH

This holiday was booked for our family group of parents and adult chldren with partners. We found this property on the owners website before discovering Holiday Rentals. So we were a bit concerned about sending off a cheque for hundreds of pounds to an unknown person. As it turned out the administration of the booking was first class. Our cautionary deposit was returned within a week of our return.

The comprehensive details about the property together with the photos certainly attracted us to The Moorings but we were delighted that the property was just as good as the detals. A fantastic quiet location at the Dartmouth Castle end of Dartmouth. A fairly easy walk into Dartmouth for morning croissants and evening meals.

The property was well presented on arrival and well maintained. The house is extremely well equipped with lots of kitchen equipment, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery to make self catering easy,

Three of the four bedrooms had excellent views of Warfleet Creek and the River Dart. The fourh bedroom overlooks a very close wall at the back of the property!

The view from the terrace and all the rooms at the front of the house are just as good as it looks on the website without any photographic tricks.

I think we counted 45 steps to the front door - so it would not be easy with small children or large suitcases. Parking is also restricted. Our family group had two quite large cars. We managed with very careful parking to squeeze them into the space at the bottom of the stairs. There is free parking immediately opposite the property from 6pm to 9am but daytime parking is linited to 1 hour.

The biggest problem with this property was dealing with the complexities of the Dartmouth recycling scheme with bags and bins for everything (except glass which you have to take to the bottle bank).

We would certainly recommend the property to others.

- meals at Taylor's restaurant and the Dartmouth Apprentice
- visiting the National Trust Gardens at Coleton Fishacre
- walking from the property to Little Dartmouth and Greenway
