An original holiday opportunity, House Boat on private lake, Devon
Blagdon Water consists of 35 acres of rural countryside. The exclusive site contains a 3 acre lake and 15 acres of newly planted woodland. The accommodation facilities, in the form of two house boats are located on the lake in their own private two acre sites. This environmental site is dedicated to providing a natural habitat in which the local wildlife is free to flourish without it having to compete with the needs of modern agriculture. The new woodland has encouraged an influx of new residents in the form of voles and rabbits and the lake now provides a welcome haven for a large array of birdlife many of whom are raising their young there. Among recent sittings are barn owls, cuckoos, buzzards, kestrels, ducks and dabchicks. One of the great pleasures of staying at Blagdon Water is the sense of space and freedom.
Details for Painted Lady in Devon, England
Painted Lady is a house boat permanently moored to her own exclusive jetty. She is 15m (50ft) in length, custom built along the lines of the traditional narrow boat. The main salon is entered from the jetty, midships, through double doors and down a few oak steps into the galley and dining area. The open plan design and light decor give the boat a spacious and airy feel whilst the two large windows overlooking the lake allow you to be a voyeur to the wildlife around you. The cabins lead off the salon fore and aft. Both offer ensuite facilities and have their own private deck. The adjoining summer house offers additional space and room for dining or just lounging with superb views of the lake.

| Notes: | Bath/shower towels are provided although not beach towels. This is an ideal holiday for children although caution must be taken with regards to young children due to the nature of the holiday and the proximity to water. The elderly are very welcome although the boat has to be accessed down a few steps which may cause some a problem. Non smoking applies to on board the boat only. The lack of electrical appliances is due to the fact that this is an environmental holiday and power is supplied by solar panels. |

What a glorious week! We've seen ducks, geese, buzzards, kestrels, grebes, a couple of trout (which made a very good dinner!), cormorant, herons, rabbits, moorhens and all this from the luxury of The Painted Lady. It's been wonderful - not forgetting the blackberries from the hedges which made a very nice crumble along with local clotted cream. - Liz Nightingale, Mallorca, Spain What a beautiful place - would love to come back one day. Margaret, Macclesfield We have had a lovely time. Very relaxing. Seen plenty of wildlife, even caught a fish. Very tasty! First class accommodation. - Victoria and Peter, Teignmouth, Devon
