Make a holiday rental home or chalet in Finland your home away from home

Finland is a beautiful country, located between Russia and Sweden. The breathtaking landscapes are unforgettable, filled with wildlife and the ideal base for an adventure. The country is truly magical, covered in thick, majestic forests and littered with timeless lake scenery. In the north, the sun doesn’t set for several weeks, which is a truly amazing experience, but it is the ski and spa resorts in Finland that really draw the crowds.

Things to do in Finland

Finland is a magnificent place to get away from it all during the summer months. The stunningly unspoilt natural scenery will capture your heart, and reinvigorate your mind. There are some 180,000 lakes making up the landscape, and as a result, sailing and fishing holidays are simply sensational. Huge, wild salmon are caught on a regular basis, and information on Finland’s finest fishing locations is easily found. There is nothing in the world more peaceful than taking a kayak and a fishing rod and silently paddling along one of Finland’s many lakes. Salmon, rainbow trout, perch and pike are the most popular fish to catch on holiday in Finland.

Hiking, riding and cycling holidays are particularly special in Finland due to the enormous amount of wildlife that you will see, (as well as the absolutely breath-taking scenery that you will discover). Bear watching is a particularly popular activity on Finland holidays, which starts in April as the bears leave their layers after the winter hibernation. Moose, elk, reindeer, flying squirrel, whooper swan, wolves and the world’s largest falcon, the Gyrfalcon can often be seen in Finland, and if you are lucky, wild lynx can also be seen in the northern region.

Winter sports thrive in Finland. Holidays skiing in Finland are absolutely magnificent, and the huge variety of winter sports completely unique to the county (reindeer skiing springs to mind), will inspire and enthral even the most seasoned snow sports enthusiasts. Those looking to go skiing in Finland should look to the fairytale landscapes of Iso-Syote, Levi, Ruka, Salla or Yllas. Ski and spa resorts in Finland are particularly popular, and visitors are spoilt for choice.

Places to visit on holiday in Finland

Eastern Finland, or Itä-Suomen lääni in Finish, is a beautiful region, home to some of the most luxurious ski and spa resorts in Finland. Spa holidays are particularly special, and the castles that stand on the lakesides are truly spectacular.

You will always see reindeer from a Finland holiday rental in Lapland, an area in the north of Finland, very close to the Arctic Circle. The pure, unspoilt nature of Lapland makes it a stunning retreat, perfect for any outdoor pursuits. Skiing holidays in Finland are particularly special here too.
