Useful additional information:
In the Otters Lake villa we have a book full of suggestions for attractions and other places for you to visit.
We also give you the names of takeaway restaurants if you don't feel like cooking ! The nearest post office is
5 minutes away on Route 27 - and there is another opposite our managing agents in West Vine Street.
The attractive town of Celebration - 5 mins. away - has a cinema - and another post office. Many of the buildings in this town were built by world famous architects and you can identify them from a 'walking tour' brochure.
Publix supermarket very closeby has a large section for English food - so if you miss your HP sauce or your Hob Nobs this is the place to find them. Be aware that American tea is very weak so get your PG tips here too.
It is well worth the few dollars to use the toll road 427 from the airport - or the new 429 to go North.
There is a great flea market and antique venue - Renningers - near Mount Dora. Great place to visit - use 429 road.
Restaurants:
You will be spoilt for choice ! Among dozens close by are Denny's (some open 24 hours), Bob Evans, Angels and Ponderosa. Our favourites are Outback with great steaks and Cracker Barrel - good food and great gift shop attached. Sizzlers is very inexpensive - choose the 'salad bar' - choice of two soups, plus pasta, plus meatballs or chicken wings and an enormous salad bar + dessert - for only $2 more you can add steak. Another 'chain' - always good value is Olive Garden, People tend to eat early in the USA so if you go between 5.00 and 7.30 you may need to phone ahead - but a wait is rarely more than 15 min. If you are feeling flush drive to Lake Wales and visit the Chalet Suzanne -very expensive and exclusive - people fly in by private plane to eat here ! It's a good idea to book ahead if you want to eat at Disney or at DownTown Disney as they get very busy. Remember to book for the character breakfasts! Please remember to tip 20% - the English are known to be 'stingy'!
