Holidays without families:
Many people look forward to a holiday away from families, when they can enjoy themselves amongst adult company. The Lodge offers a great retreat from the younger generation - and other people in general, if you so wished! As there are no nearby houses and just the country lane that passes the property, the only noises likely to break the incredibly peaceful burbling of the river are tractors, horses and wildlife – plus the occasional canoeist who gets stuck in the shallows!
Great facilities within the grounds for adult holidays; Culture - medieval cities, cathedrals, museums; Night Life - casinos, opera, theatre, horseracing, fine dining; Interesting places to visit - castles, wine tasting, car museums; More and less active - golf, skiing, walking activity parks, biking, canoeing, spas.
Out of Season & Winter Holidays:
Many people think a place like the Lodge is only for hot summer months but this just isn’t the case! Enjoy fantastic winter breaks as well as spring and autumn holidays. Mid winter can be really cold and sharp, most years with snow which transforms the chateau into a truly magical place and makes for a memorable Christmas or New Year break! In Spring the river is full of water as the thaw reaches the mountains and some days can be really warm and fresh, while Autumn, possibly the most beautiful season, sees a carpet of conkers in the parkland and the green vine that covers the chateau turn scarlet.
Skiing: There are three ski areas, Le Mont Dore, Besse Super Besse and Le Lioran, all close to each other that offer about 150kms of pisted area, just an hour from the chateau. Children are well catered for and there are large indoor activity areas which include skating, swimming, horse riding.
